Denver Rejects Nene Deal; Mobley to Clippers?

You think Simmons being replaced by Mobley will launch the Clippers to success? It's not like Denver lost anything by not trading for Mobley. In fact, I'd have to guess that Denver can trade Nene for a SG that's already signed. He's a young big with lots of upside.

I'm still crossing my fingers that a Denver deal can get done. I think the talk of hte Clippers signing him is at least 50% a threat. Maybe Nene + filler for Mobley, 1 or 2 firsts, and another small big.

They'd probably take Mobley, + 1st, + K. Martin. That'd give them a 2 and a young promising backup 2. Mobley alone is a joke.

success, no, not at all. better than the nuggets, sure, why not?

then better than the kings too? no seriously...the nuggets and kings were separated by 1 game, right? its possible. hell, the clips could get the 4th seed now that i think about it.

anything is possible, except that. i liked mobley, so i'm hoping he goes to the clippers, i'll at least be able to watch an ex-king play at staples everynight. I wish him well.

The acquisition of Mobley IMO will not make the Clipps a better team than they were last year when Simmons had a career year. Not a chance.

Cat's pretty much a guaranteed 17-20ppg every year and an obvious legit starter -- that's worth more than the MLE I would think. But more Clippers bizarreness to let the young good sized athletic 16pt scorer go to bring in a smaller, older, 17pt scorer and pay him similar money. Because we all know the Clips are going to be contending in the next couple of years and should be picking up every 30 yr old they can find. Guess its the shooting -- they claimed Maggette and Simmons did not fit together -- and I'm dead serious that it would not asurprise me if Cat's big game against them last year didn't leave a lasting impression.

I know that there are a few teams out there who will pay Cat $42 mm over 5 yrs. I just wouldn't (defense, age, etc). Also, if Peja, Mike, and Brad are worth between $8-10mm per year, I think Cat is worth around $5-6mm.

But then again, there is no way I would pay Peja the max. I also think Mike is slightly overpaid.

I don't understand why the Clippers are so set on signing a SG. Maggette is a SG. He's not a great shooter though, so I guess they want someone with range. Why don't they just play Maggette at SG and go after Radmanovic?

That sounds way too logical for the Clips ;)

I'm down in LA right now and the radio stations are reporting that this is basically a done deal. They're saying that both the Clippers organization and Mobley himself are ecstatic about it. They're also talking about stepping up their pursuit of Rahim. Not really new information, but they sounded pretty confident about it all.

I'd also be ecstatic if I just agreed to be paid $42 mill over 5 years. On another note...Cat wants to get into the modeling industry and last time I checked LA was a much better place to do that than Sac or Denver.

so let me get this straight. we may lose mobley (who's the only player besides mike that can hit big shots unconsciously in a game time decision). and we actually WANT him to go because he "doesn't fit into our offense"???? what is our front office doing to make this team better? giving one dimensional and soft players like peja the max and letting go of the #3 three point shooter in the league? it's dumb!

All this talk of the mid-season moves offering flexibility and fresh blood, now all we have is lessened on court chemistry and no off season movement at all.

this offseason sucks so far. we need some serious help. if we lose mobley for nothing, the front office is a bunch of fools. i'd personally rather offer him what the clippers are offering, then trade him down the road.

Easy, it's July 13th!

It's still early guys, the next week or so is going to be big though, a lot of the quality players are going to get scooped up.

None of this matters till after the 22nd. people can say they are going to sign with this team or that team once they can but everybody changes there minds. high school recruits do it all the time when they choose there colleges.

I don't really understand the Clippers(doesn't someone say this every year???). They sign Mobley to a 42 million dollar contract and let there own player, Simmons, go and he signs a 47 million dollar contract.

I do... the Clippers are complete idiots.

Mobley sure had some good looks last year. With Bibby, Miller and Peja warranting serious outside attention he was left all alone to play H-O-R-S-E on many occasions. Think about it, aside from Dallas, the Kings lead the league in wide open jumpers.

Hope the Clippies enjoy the 42 million dollar investment without the wide open looks.
