COMMENTARY | As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare to take on the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, the emergence of DeMarcus Cousins has to leave some fans in L.A. wondering what could've been had things played out a little differently. The Kings signed Cousins to a four-year, $62 million extension in September and solidified their plans to build around him after a productive, yet tumultuous start to his career had his future in Northern California in question. Had they let his contract expire and allowed him to become a free agent in 2014, the Lakers would have been in play for his services. While Cousins would have by no means been as attractive of a name as either LeBron James are Carmelo Anthony would be, it's easy to argue that he'd make more sense in L.A. than either of the top two potential free agents this summer.
