I think they got the decision right but they did it the wrong way. Now Demarcus knows he isn't really required to do anything the coach says and no matter what he does it isn't his fault. You could see that he felt justified in his poor behavior by the interview he gave and his general attitude towards the the media.Oh, I defend pretty much whoever gets it right on a particular issue. Many of you lack that ability and need a nice simple story with permanent black hats and white hats. I on the other hand am focused on outcomes. Whoever wants to pull for the outcomes that I think need to happen gets to be white hats for the day. If the story is correct the Maloofs didn't handle this well, they never handle anything well. But their priorities were correct, and they have every right to do whatever they want with their asset. Geoff is just an employee. Its not his franchise. If he's on the outs after this season no owner in the world is going to let their aging soon to retire manager make huge business altering decisions that will linger loing after he's gone without their say so.
Now of course the truth of the matter is you are being a hypocrite. Your irrational despite for Cousins is so great that you needed a particular outcome too. If the report had been Geoff wanted to save Cousins but the Maloofs had stepped in to suspend him and now were trying to trade him over Geoff's objections you'd be happy as a clam.
I don't have any problem with the Maloofs stepping and shortening the suspension. THey would have all the facts and should have the authority to do whatever they seem is right for the franchise. They way the did it alienates their coach and their GM and makes all the players feel as though there won't be consequences for their actions. The should have told smart and Petrie to do it, even if they didn't want to.
