Decades of Pop and Rock/put in your 2 cents

After getting a little too concerned about the rock band draft, I have decided to turn my attention to something more light-hearted.

What was your FAVORITE (not greatest, as that is less subjective) rock (Rock to metal) group/performer and pop (bubble gum to gansta rap) group/performer from each of these decades: the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's?

Here is a cut and paste template

P.S. That's cheating to foist off one of the great rock pioneers (Buddy Holly) as a 50s pop guy. Of course given that pop at that time would involve something like Lawkrence Welk, maybe just as well... ;)

True dat... but this is suggestive...

Why does rap get lumped in with pop music?

I would think that since the lists were starting 60's/50's, that it was basically mirroring the rock n' roll era. So almost not so much rock vs. pop as rock, and then anything else. Rap has only been around for the last few decades, so its an anything else. Of course if you are not a rock fan than rock might be the anything else, but then you would have to find a single musical school that had existed for the entire 5 decade period to be the primary list. R & B perhaps. Or country.

rather than nitpick your rules, I'll contribute. Although any of these would be easily predictable if you look at my music picks in any of the music drafts

POP
50's: Elvis
60's: The Beach Boys
70's: The Eagles (does country fit under pop? If not, is ELO pop? heh)
80's: NWA
90's: Tupac
00's: Blink 182 (they were basically gods during my middle school years. a lot of nostalgia here)
ROCK
50's: Elvis (he's both, c'mon)
60's: The Beatles
70's: Pink Floyd
80's: Pixies
90's: Nirvana
00's: Muse (listen to them if you haven't. like Radiohead but with less depressing songs. less talented though, of course)

Hastily put together...I'm not really sure about those 00's favorites, obviously. ANyway, let's see some more.

Jespher: heh, please enlighten me to your recordings of the Beach Boys in the 50s. Actually forget me. Put them on eBay where they'd be sure to make hundreds of thousands of dollars.
