We were still potentially building on 22-23 last January. I don't think Fox was playing poorly to get out of Dodge. I think he was on a 3-5 year exit path that included him getting that super max first.

I could see LA potentially doing something like this with Luka if it is as bad as Dallas thinks but San Antonio gave up so little. Unless he has B-Roy's knees I can't imagine.

One of the 1st rounders is six years from now. Discounted for present value, it's like a 2nd rounder today. Then you have to consider that all picks are not equal. Some picks have the potential to be top 5 draft picks; others mid 20s or lower, which rarely give you much. If we actually owned two or three Washington Wizards (or Atlanta ) picks over the next few years, then you're talking. Otherwise I view it as a lot of picks that won't mean a whole lot.

I agree I am not super excited about the 2031 even if it turns out to be special. I could be dead then.

But the 2027 Spurs pick isn't too far away and I don't think San Antonio even knows what they have yet and if Wemby gets hurt, even like a little baby injury they have to be cautious and shut him down this early in his career?

I don't like it and can't believe we didn't get a genuine real deal 2025 first out of this thing but I don't think we should be mapping the parade route for the Spurs.

If Wemby resemble anything like Chet, they’re done. Fox is not Shai.

And yes, can we all be honest and fairly blunt? If Wemby gets a career threatening injury over the next two years, how many of us are going to be weeping? Weeping for joy, maybe....:D

They are also riding him hard while Chet got a redshirt year and can enjoy time off to be ready for the post season.

No Wemby no post-season for San Antonio. I don't see that changing in the next two years. They are so far away from good. And if Pop doesn't return...

I don’t thing GMs feel the same way about future picks. They want the flexibility to use them for trades. I don’t believe they have less value than now picks

Even if Pop comes back, I don't think he'd stick around for too much longer with his age and health issues.

Hey! Maybe they can hire Brown! Fox loves the guy!
 
I'm likely in the huge minority here, but I'm not going to sugarcoat it, I've never been a huge fan of Fox. I don't think he's a true PG, I don't think he's the "superstar" he seems to think he is, I think he throws negative body language half the time, doesn't play to his full potential most of the time, think he's disingenuous in most things he says and does, and personally, I'm GLAD he's gone. He sure as hell isn't worth the SuperMax or anything close to it. I've been a fan since '85 (I'm old), and am actually optimistic about the future of the Kings, much more so than I was before the trade.
