im not blind to this being a fleece and probably the wrong move long term. But Fox ****ed us royally and got what he wanted in the process. Choosing to be optimistic and enjoy watching this team bc idk if I have the heart to go thru a full tear-down right now
worst case scenario if it goes sideways the Spurs swap is just one pick and we own all our others ~2027 on. Who knows what 2030 looks like anyways
Maybe Doug can get to him about coming off the bench..

It’s not that Deebo isn’t a fantastic player, it’s that we REALLY need defense. Monk, Levine, Deebo is a a crazy soft defensive backcourt. If we could flip Deebo for a wing that can defend, we would have a much more balanced lineup.
We did everything (often stupid moves) to put Fox over. Honestly everything on the Spurs is going to be for Wemby. I hope he finds the grass isn't always greener, but maybe he'll like not having that shoulder to bare. But also maybe he'll see from Spurs fanbase that felt entitled to have him and didn't view him as worth giving up ANYTHING of value that as Robin, he's going to basically take every single bit of wrath if Robin doesn't lead Batman to a title (which they may not because OKC, HOU and plenty of other teams are better built).

Serious question here, cause I really want to know why kings fans feel the way they do.

Fox wins (very slightly) the counting stats and Lavine wins the advanced and efficiency numbers (and not by an inconsiderable amount on the shot % stuff).
I think we at least owe it to Domas and Keegan and maybe even DDR to see what we have left before we do that. We can do that in a year or two. I would be fine with it, I think Vivek hates the idea though. He's probably one of those who thinks tanking is cheating.

Cause the FO isn’t trading monk, Sabonis, and Lavine which would have to happen what I don’t get is some being against Zion. Big deal he’s hurt a lot but we’re never gonna be in the top 5 to get elite talent and we don’t have the assets to trade for one expect for him.
Fox also plays 3 more MPG than LaVine does, so that does account for why his counting stats are higher. But LaVine is also shooting the pee out the ball, which while he's a great shooter, he's basically having a career season so far. Not super reliable to trust that long-term.
But basically, this is saying both guys are playing about equal seasons/impact so far this year.

I know matt was trying to make lavine look bad here but he did exactly the opposite. He showed they are the same caliber of player with one of them being a much better shooter

Well, we were a 48 win team, #3 seed literally less than 2 years ago that took the defending champs to 7 games. We also had 2 of the best players in our franchise history, in their prime, at the same time with Fox and Domas.
Life comes at your fast I guess. But I like rooting for good basketball and not fully crap teams year after year. I also don't think Vivek will ever let a real 3-5 year rebuild take place under his watch.

Look at the supporting cast that Fox was working with compared to the Bulls. You can't discount this. Sabonis is huge for other players offensively.
I'll say this tho, he should have more blocks and rebounds with his height and athletic ability. But he wasn't really playing for anything in Chicago. Now he plays for the beam
because right now is terrible timing for a full re-build when we're within arms reach of the playoffs. our team also has more talent than ever with Sabonis, Monk, LaVine, and DeMar.
complete rebuild only made sense during the post-Cousins era when we were winning at most 30ish games. but right now? it would make 0 sense

We just are not built for it. Not sure if you remember the Suns of old with Steve nash running the show.
If we can duplicate that type of excitement I'll be more than happy as a kings fan. We had no defense with Fox, let's not forget that.
I swear Fox defense was so trash this year. Everyone just sees the steals and things ok he's good at this, but the amount of blow bys this guy gives up each game is ridiculous
If by "three-year" you mean Remainder-Of-This-Year + 2 (same deal Ellis got), then yes. The difference here is that Ellis used up his "first" season in the NBA by playing 16 games for us while under a 2-way deal, then didn't get the full NBA deal until his second year. Restricted free agency only exists for players after their first three season in the league (with the exception of four-year rookie scale contracts). So if elevated now, Jones could play two more seasons and then be an RFA.

Also not sure how hard a quick rebuild would be now that we have extra first round picks to work with aside from our own (unprotected aside from the Charlotte one as well), younger player to help speed up a potential rebuild, and players that are actually good enough to flip for assets. Absolutely not saying to do it this year but it’s not hard to do if so inclined in a way that it would’ve been had we had a new super max player on the roster to move.

Yeah I just mean we give him 3 years so we have bird rights (prob not necessary for his skillset) but don't have to do the awkward declining of the option on the cheap to do it (I'm sure some people will go "whaaah why are we giving him a raise early").

I wonder if we could get Cam and one of their bigs for picks a trade exception and Lyles and filler. I would be pretty down with that
On top of that losing Zach Collins means Wemby gonna probably have to ride harder and I don't know how great that is for his frame. Hopefully 26-27 is the "David Robinson missed the season and they win Tim Duncan" year of Wemby's career. Lord knows I've soft-hated the Spurs ever since then since I was living in Boston still.
