While true, we had sucked for so long at that point, that part didn't even enter my thoughts haha. We did Cousins dirty, and even through all of his antics, he didn't deserve that. I like professionalism, pride myself on it in my day to day and work life, and I like to see it for the teams I support as well. We have been a lot better at it lately, which gives me peace lol.

Castle, sure, Sochan I like, but Keldon and Vassel especially are not needle-movers in the slightest. What are we supposed to be upset over by not getting them again?
Really, the whole reason we're talking to SA in the first place was because Fox forced his way there. It was it is.

When this all started, I said I did not want any of San Antonio's players under 7' tall. That still stands. LaVine is so much better than any of them right now, even if Castle eventually turns into a fine player.

I’m not suggesting that she or any other team employee for that matter should have ripped the star player. But openly saying that the wants and wishes of the star player (and his family) being fulfilled is a positive thing while choosing to overlook the downside of the deal and the detriments to the team/franchise that employs her? That’s something entirely different.

That's VERY much not true. You can be sad about Sochan/Castle, because prospect(s) but Keldon and Vassel aren't close to LaVine. Like not even the same realm.

I'd love even one paragraph of any sort of data to back up this claim.

And before you rip me as a "OMG MONTE LOVER FAN CLUB GUY", i rated this deal a 5.5/10. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

This is not a ringing endorsement for making LaVine the centerpiece of the return for the Kings though.

If folks can look past their hate for De'Aaron Fox and relief that this nightmare scenario is now over, I think they would see that this deal is on the low end of the return we were all hoping for. It sucks that we got backed into a corner but we needed to come out of this with one significant asset -- a good young player on a rookie contract, a future unprotected lottery pick. Something to give us hope for the future. We swapped Fox for a veteran who was very recently available for salary filler and the throw-in's were two first round picks that are likely to be in the mid to late 20s, and 4 second round picks.

Now granted I'm way down on LaVine but personally I don't see him as asset. And even worse, he's dangerously close to being a liability. What's the over/under on his games played for the next 3 years? I'm guessing he averages 50 games a year and we're going to be paying him $138 million in that time frame. He and Monk are going to torpedo all chance of this ever being a top 10 defense again. This is a prelude to a rebuild and all because someone in our front office is too impatient to take a small step backward in order to have a brighter future.

I don't know what else was out there -- maybe this is the best we would do given Rich Paul had already knee-capped us by telling everyone who would listen that Fox would only re-sign with the Spurs. But even if that's true, I'm not going to celebrate this as a win for the Kings. Our team got even worse on defense, older, more fragile, more expensive, and our window for trying to compete is probably done. We'll play out the rest of the string on LaVine and DeRozan. I hope to God we just let LaVine walk at that point. Maybe by 2031 if Minnesota sucks we'll have two lottery picks plus whatever we manage to flip Sabonis for.

I'll take Lavine over Vassell but would have loved to get Sochan included... I like his energy as a bench, stop gap starter. Nights when we are flat, Monk is the only one i trust to be able to hype up the team.

Pretty much just like the Haliburton trade. Whatever we got back in return is just a bonus to getting off of a shooting guard who actively hurt our chances of winning lol

I honestly don't know what people expected. Spurs are not going to do us any favors. Cassle growth will be extremely dampered with the addition of Fox. I would not have traded for Fox if I was Spurs. I don't think he fits at all with Wimbley. Fox playmaking ability is below average for a pg and he isn't all of a sudden going to give it 100% because he got traded.

Age keeps getting brought up. Fox playing style is going to kill his longevity and he doesn't have the shooters touch. He will never be the shooter Levin is. He will never have the athletic ability of Zack.

Zack also has never had as good of a supporting cast as we have in sac.

Lastly, Spurs supporting cast is NOT better than sacramento. Wembly or not, I'll take our starting 5 over there's today. That's why, despite all the drama this year, we are still ahead of them in the standings.

Spurs are 2 years away min and by that time Fox will be almost 30 himself.

But we most certainly did one for them though. That’s the problem. When the Spurs said Castle was off the table, hang the **** up and go to the next team. Fox had more value than what we got today.
