The Morning Journal - The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly close to signing David Wesley to a deal, possibly close to what Flip Murray got with the Pistons (two years, $3.6 million), The Morning Journal is reporting.

Wesley, who will be 36 in November, would probably be an effective player if he played around 20 minutes a game.

Should Wesley join the Cavaliers, Damon Jones may be on his way out.

Well, I'd say if they get him this takes them out of getting Marcus Banks.

I think this would be a decent signing, have Wesley and Snow as veteran guards with Brown and Gibson as intriguing rookies to learn after. Wesley's a tough defender, experienced, good shooter, can handle the ball.

Nuggs could use D-Jones.

man the Pistons got Flip Murray cheap!

Ridiculously so -- Flip screw up. Apparently they were ready to offer him mostr of their MLE, then he hesitated looking for more, and they used it on Nazr instead. Now he's left with scraps. Wonder how it feels to make a mistake in judgment that literally costs you millions of dollars?

I gotta tell ya, I have no idea.

For playing (or NOT playing) a game, no less...

But, like everything else, it's all relitive...

Kinda (slightly) reminds me of that situation where the agent forgot to file the paperwork with Miami... A. Carter I think it was. That had to suck.

Looks like Cleveland weren't close to signing him... over a month later ;):

Free-agent guard David Wesley is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Cavaliers with the first year guaranteed.

But the deal will hinge on Wesley passing Friday's physical.

The Cavaliers will learn the results of that physical today or Sunday. General Manager Danny Ferry said he will not comment on Wesley until the results of the physical are in.

Should provide a decent veteran presence off the bench at 1/2.

That's an ok signing as long as they don't ever have to play him and Damon Jones at the same time.

Ask Bonzi...

Cleveland obsession with undersized two-guards continues...all in an effort to complement LeBron James. I mean, drafting two undersized SGs in Shannon Brown and Daniel Gibson this year, and then getting Flip Murray AND David Wesley? Whoa...

BTW, Wesley's way past his prime. I expect him to make minimal impact next year.

Flip went to Detroit.

Also, Brown can play some point and looked good doing so in the summer league supposedly. Gibson I think is being groomed as a future back-up PG. Gibson did play PG at Texas, but from what I read wasn't/isn't a true PG and is more of a combo-guard.
