Danny Ferry (Hawks GM) soon to be available.

Would not mind hiring him to the front office.

Called Loul Deng an African, but was reading in interns notes or some crap, otherwise based on his teams (first Lebron cavs and last 2 years of the hawks) he has a pretty decent track record of building contenders.

The African thing doesn't bother me. It was strange, but I had a hard time seeing it as indicative of anything. But his time with the Cavs was generally decried as he was the guy who could never get LeBron a 2nd banana. And to the degree he made the Hawks anything, they are not built in a way I would be interested in being built ourselves.

Pass. My personal feelings about him aside, I don't see DF as a guy who is an architect for contending teams. He knows talent and how to make a good deal but in terms of getting the the RIGHT guys I am not sold.

Who else can we get that has had better success than Ferry? I'm not too familiar with the other potential candidates.

I hear Joe Dumars and Bryan Colangelo are available! :D

Truly though...GMs are a difficult lot to read. Perhaps its just my general lack of reverance for them, but I think there are very few standouts, and even the standouts will inevitably acquire mixed records if they stay around long enough. Half the time the best GM hires are underlings from other organizations (but not basement gerbils :) ). I have absolutely nobody in mind and am actually content to let our current Vlade led muddle show what it can do because I legitimately think it might have as good a shot as anybody, or at least anybody I know anything about who is available.
