Dallas Dumps Podkolzin

But I think Muss can turn this garbage to a decent defender and let him play against Dallas so he can vent out all his frustrations on them. hehehe!

I'd rather have a 7'5 huge project backing up Miller that Potopenko.

At least...Well, he'd be bigger...

He can get more money in Europe.

Maybe in the short term, but if he produces in the NBA, he can make more here. Europe can wait if he has interest from NBA teams.

Do I want him on our team? I don't know, I've never seen him play.

They had to dump him because they can't send him to D-league anymore. I think they are also at their roster limit.

I saw this guy in a game against the Clippers last year and he seriously looked like he never played the game before in his life. He showed slight improvement in the summer league this year, but he is way too slow and has no bball IQ whatsoever.

Let's just say he was dumped by the team that kept Shawn Bradley for years and leave it at that...

Pass. I bad as the roster looks it is near full and realistly baring a 2 for one type trade there is only room and money for one more aqasition... and this is NOT the guy.

Thankfully I know that Petrie will pass, because he is awful. Classic case of teams getting all excited about a freakishly tall guy who is able to run and overlooking the fact that he doesn't have NBA level Basketball IQ, instincts, or skills.

whats not to be excited about, the guy is 7'5, mobile for his size, can rebound block. this guy could easily become a teams ratliff, maybe even a mutombo. he's 21, plenty of time to get better. Dallas just wasnt going to carry 4 centers, thats why they let him go.

If he was good and had potential, they could easily have shipped him to the NBDL. They didn't... which speaks pretty clearly IMHO about the potential of the kid.

if anyone recollects, podkolzine was supposed to be a top 5 pick 3 years ago, then he decided to stay, and came out the next year... so his value dropped and he was picked 25th or something... the guy is just tall

They can't. He'll be a third year player and can no longer be sent down. Not good enough to make their rotation (three Centers playing ahead of him) and they are approaching, or at their roster limit. They also recently signed an undrafted forward out of G. Washington. He played for their summer league team, basically their version of Louis Amundson- undersized, but supposedly athletic.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu is an athletic freak. Saw some of him in college, should be a good energy big one day. Won't play a lot in Dallas this season though. Basically replaces Josh Powell.

I'd at least bring him into training camp with a very distant chance of him sticking around unless he proves himself. The very fact that he can walk being 7' 5" is pretty amazing, he is said to be mobile for his size which doesn't say much. He is only 21 years old, so give the guy a break. With good training you can teach a chimp to do some amazing things so why not try with a 7' 5" guy when we need size so bad here in Kingsland???
