Dal/Phx game 1

Why am I not seeing any guys in the board? It's just me, mavsman and Piksi.

ARE YOU GUYS BUSY WATCHING AMERICAN IDOL?

beautiful game... simply crazy. i was hoping suns would pull it out and it literally came down to the last seconds. very exciting

I'm surprisingly calm about this outcome. Maybe I should panic? I think Avery will make some nice adjustments. I mean, we nearly beat the Suns @ their own game. Mavs need to impose their style of play on them.

Also the majority of our defensive performance depends on Howard...if he doesn't come back this series I'll be very hard pressed to believe we can gut it out. You can't lose your best defensive player (and the 3rd best offensive player on your team) and expect to win.

Was it just me or did Diaw take like 5 steps with the ball on that last play?

Couldn't tell - if the refs missed that call it would be only a few calls all game they've missed. They were pretty good tonight.

Diaw is a beast - how did the Hawks miss this guy?!

wth happened in the last 3 minutes...I stoped watching after it was 109-103 for the Mavs cause I thought they had it, and now I go online and and see that Suns beat em, thought it was a misprint until I saw the score

i think he travelled on the last play
he made a little slide to move closer to his other foot for being able to make a nice jumpshot, but i really don't think at this time of the game you should call this a travel
i remember Kobe, at the top of the paint, doing the same think for a buzzer beater against the grizzlies or maybe the nuggets

Tremendous game, what a fun series this will be... like last year, only better I think. Surprised Dallas couldn't get any stops and keep that lead down the stretch.

^^^ Is he going to be Webber the 2nd? I hope he doesn't end up like that. McDyess' career got screwed also from injuries.

^man i sure hope not. god what a shame that would be. people forget the guy came straight out of high school and was becoming an absolute beast. incredibly underrated if you ask me.

Would Diaw have the success he's having?

i think diaw would have developed pretty solid regardless. still, i would take a healthy amare over diaw anyday. diaw has definetely come into his own, he had a big game tonight for sure.

I saw it at the time - it looked like he definitely lifted his pivot foot. IMO it was an obvious call and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it. I'm totally impartial here, for what it's worth.

I'm usually the resident whiner when it comes to officiating - I didn't see it. I haven't seen a replay. In any case I mean the game was back and forth all throughout the 4th. Can't narrow the loss down to that one play ultimately.

^^^ Ofcourse you have to be a whiner. Every fan is for their team.

For the love of og, will *somebody* play defense in this series, please?

EDIT - Not every fan is a "whiner" for their team, West_Gunslinger16.

I saw it --- after he made the fake to get Stackhouse off of his feet, he slid his left foot back toward his body to gather himself to shoot, and his left foot was his pivot foot. It was a travel, plain and simple imho.

I'm still surprised that the Suns were able to come back and steal that game. I think the Mavs really need to make an attempt to slow the Suns down a bit, and make certain to get to the basket as much as possible. They were basically unstoppable in the paint when they made a concerted effort to get to the rim.
