In its entirety
Cat: I think we got robbed. ..Of course, there is a lot of tension during the game because you’re competitive. Some refs take it to heart some refs hold grudges. I don’t know if that was a grudge hold. You know if he wanted to hurry up and get out of there. Seeing how good that game was I think we deserve a chance at…of a replay of something. You just don’t rush out of there, knowing that you messed up. Should refs get fined? For messing games up. I mean the top office protects them to the fullest. You know what I’m saying. You’ll fine us in a second. We go do something here, you’ll go cry to David Stern or somebody in a second. If I get fined for this, so what I don’t care. I know I’m not a bad guy, I know I’m not a bad kid or whatever you want to call it. But I think they go unscathed. I mean its blatant. You don’t even give a remote-you don’t even try at all to say, you know, look at your other refs. Or, Shawn Marion, first he grabs him then it’s a goal tend. Then you don’t even go to the table to look at it on TV. Great game, this ain’t no blow out, this aint no, you know what I mean. I mean should you get fined for that? We’ll get fined if we say something about them because they’re cry babies. Yeah we’re cry babies too, but we’re competing. When you compete, I don’t know no body in no profession or no competition that does not so call cry or you know. Its competitive, referring is different. But uh, they’ll go tell on us fast. They won’t get punished for a ball play, the cost of a game. That’s the cost of a game right there, you never know where that game can go.
Reporter: This sounds like something that has been on your mind for a long time.
Cat: Well I mean its terrible. Sometimes I look at how some refs talk to people, and its bad. You can’t talk to certain refs. Certain refs are either too young or too old to even talk to. They’re like don’t, don’t talk to me or won’t speak to you even if you…And coaches teach you when you first come into the league to call them by their name. I try to call every ref by their name. Not saying just me, but other players I listen to. You know refs ignore them, they have attitudes, they come on the court with attitudes..
Reporter: Do you think there need to be an overhaul of the system?
Cat: I think they should get punished also, personally. They go home, they don’t get punished.
Reporter: Have you seen a replay of the shot?
Cat: Yeah. I’ve seen it five times
Reporter: And?
Cat: Shawn Marion grabs his arm and hen Amare Stoudamire goal tends the shot. Its in the cylinder. Simple as that. …They rushing out like somebody’s going to beat them up. Ain’t nobody going to touch you. You get protected like damn near the government. So, I mean who’s going to touch you?
Reporter: They should have reviewed it then?
Cat: At least. At least. Don’t give a game away like that. People pay hard earned money to see good games, that was a game. Where are you going, this late at night? Where you rushing too? I mean its pitiful, man. Its pitiful. I bet you they’ll just cry and oh they did this and then hold grudges. There’s no reason to hold a grudge. So we should hold grudges when we see them in the summer times and their kids and people like that want to come up to us and talk to us. What do we want to act like butt holes and be like oh get away from us, oh no you called a bad play? No, no we go up we talk and we sign, that’s what we do. So, this…when we’re playing and you make that- a call such as that and not even have a replay that’s maybe hurting us in the long run, you never know. I get kneed, one of the refs says to me oh I’m sorry Cat, my fault I missed that. Now I’m limping, might not play Thursday. But you’re sorry. My dad used to tell me sorry didn’t do it you did it. So, I don’t know. I just don’t like how they get so protected and we don’t
Reporter: You mentioned grudges, do you think this was a grudge call or payback?
Cat: I don’t know. I’m not saying that its like that but I see it in a lot of refs faces. Today Mike was talking to, I’m not naming them, but Mike was talking to one of the refs and he just haules off and went crazy. Aaab bbbfffffff fffff ffffffff, like that. I was like, woah, yo why are you so angry? I’m standing right next to him and I’m like why are you so angry? How can you be so angry, we play basketball. You are a referee for the NBA, one of the best sports in the world. Why are you--what is in your life that you are so angry about? Do you want to go dig coal or something? Have your hands all beat up and your face black as tar? Do you want to go do something like that? I bet you’d be angry then, waking up at 4 o’clock in the morning .
Reporter: And you guys know which ones you have leeway with and…
Cat: Exactly. I mean its ridiculous man. And they might say, oh these guys you know they cry. We’re competitive, we’re competing. We do the same thing in the summertime. Its nothing against them, but when you react like you do to us then that’s what it is. And yes some players get out of control and say some things to certain refs. And the good refs go up to the player and they’ll talk to that guy and that player will understand. When the player doesn’t understands that’s when you penalize a player. But you don’t hold grudges and you don’t miss calls and close your eyes on purpose. And I hate when people say at the end of the game if a guys fouls a guy he fouled him, he fouled him. I don’t care if you shoot somebody, you shoot and killed somebody but you didn’t mean to shoot them, you shot them. If you fouled him, you fouled him. Oh it’s the end of the game, you got to play through that-no, you fouled him, you fouled him. Simple as that. I shoot and it hits somebody, then that person dies, its my fault because I pulled the trigger. Simple as that.
Reporter: You mention the way they penalize player, do you expect to…
Cat: They won’t get penalized
Reporter: But for you
Cat: Oh I don’t care right now. I don’t care, I’m sticking up for my team. Its as simple as that. I’m going to stick up for my team because I think I’m right in this one. I think I’m right in this one. They’re going to try and call me tomorrow or Thursday, did you-? Yes. Yes I did. Because you need to look into it. You critique and dissect us and they watch their back like that’s a cult. You know Mike said something about a play that a ref called in Minnesota one of the refs said here, well I wasn’t in Minnesota. So ya’ll got your own rules now? Wha…What are you talking about, you got different rule for…What is this. If you are going to call it then call it. Makes no sense. I don’t know.
Reporter: How are you feeling with that knee right now?
Cat: I’m sore, man. I’m a little upset, especially with a loss like that. But it be like that sometimes.
