Aha -- I saw an article last week speculating if some tool owner would object if the Hornets made a deal or not. Think they were anticipating something a little more major than this. Let's see, 1/3 of the year, so 1/3 of the difference betwen Landry's salary ($3mil) and Thornton's (maybe $1mil) = $2mil/3 = maybe $700,000? To say that Cuban is being a tool again and objecting for selfish competitive reasons would be an understatement. Is he then suggesting the Hornets could nto pick a guy up from waivers (adds salary) or out of the D-league (adds salary), or if this condition lingers that they could not sign a free agent?

He didn't complain when their budget was approved. If they haven't gone outside their budget with this move, he has no ground. Now if he wants to complain that the league currently owns a team and that it compromises integrity, a case could be made.

I think it's a legitimate complaint, but I don't think it's worth a fuss.

If there's still under where they were previously, it's a non-issue in my book. If your budget is at a certain level, and you make some moves below that level, then why the big deal? Whether it's players, cash, or whatever, it shouldn't matter.
