He talked about flying over 1,000 of our troops to see the Dallas Spurs game. Some times he is really is a fine expample of what would happen if big kid got his hands on a few billion dollars.

He's going to fly 1,000 troops from Iraq to Dallas? Hmmmmmmmmmm. That's one of those things that sounds really good but is actually simply a good way to get more publicity. If he was doing it for the right reasons, he wouldn't be blowing his own horn about it.

I made the mistake of watching the finale of his reality show. Cuban is a self-serving, self-absorbed moron with no idea of what it really means to do something out of the goodness of your heart.

As self serving as it may be and as great of publicity it may be, some well deserved guys are going to have a good time, and that is not all bad.

Cuban's OK by me. His team was the first to really try and imitate us. And he tries to be entertaining. And since this stuff is just entertainment, that's good. Why does he get all this crap moreso than the other 90% of owners who are billionaire, old guys in suits counting their money in some mansion? What have they ever done for me?

dallas fans gave up their tix for a game for injured troops (injured while on duty in iraq). american airlines donated the flights to get the troops to the arena. over $150K worth of tix were given up by fans. this is the second year this has been done, and its very cool. it would be nice to see other teams *cough* *sac* *cough* maybe show a similiar gesture.

Yes, it is a very nice gesture and I withdraw my snide comment about Cuban and his motivations. It shouldn't matter to me WHO does it. The action itself is worthy of praise and I'm glad he and American Airlines combined to do it. I'm pretty sure every team in the league is doing things to support the troops. I know the Kings adopted a unit that was in Iraq a while back. It was in all the papers. We even had a member of the unit post some information about it; unfortunately, all that was lost when the board crashed earlier this year.

Mavericks fans offer front-row seats to wounded soldiers

DALLAS (AP) - About 140 U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan will sit courtside at a Dallas Mavericks game Saturday night, thanks to season-ticket holders who offered their seats in a show of gratitude.
"It's a small way for me to show some appreciation for what they've done for us," ticket holder Jim Leslie said. "I still don't think it's enough."

The soldiers from Brooke Army Medical Center near San Antonio will fly to Dallas - on a chartered jet donated by American Airlines - to see the Mavericks play the Atlanta Hawks. They will be treated to free food and drink and have their pictures taken with Mavericks players, dancers and team officials.

Team owner Mark Cuban said in an e-mail: "This is a chance for these servicemen and women to feel the admiration and respect of 20,000 people, reinforcing for them that we as a nation feel grateful for what they have done for us."

Season-ticket holder Neal Hawks began offering seats to soldiers last season. This year, he approached other season-ticket holders and got 133 tickets worth roughly $150,000, all in the front row.

"Virtually everyone said I could have their tickets," Hawks said. "I even had a couple season-ticket holders who had already given their tickets away go and get them back."

Cpl. J.R. Martinez, 21, attended a game last season while recovering from severe burns when his Humvee hit a land mine in Iraq. He said many of the wounded soldiers are "probably in the depression stage."

"For them to go and be able to feel that energy, it's definitely going to help their morale," he said.

That season ticket holder (that started the whole thing) deserves an award, not only because it is a great idea, but because he got others to buy into it and make it a very large gesture.

As far as Cuban is concerned....let's not give him too much credit. Oh, he'll take the good press, but it is the fans, and American airlines, who are making the magnanimous gesture. What is Cuban doing? Giving them a little food and access to the players is the very least he can do.

Again, perception ;)

What other teams have done anything similar to that, yet we find ways to ridicule the one guy who does something and ask for more. Maybe he is a billionaire and maybe just the food cost is nothing for him, but in reality its a whole lot more than what the other owners have done. which in fact is nothing.

While there are owners trying to get the city and the people to fund for the arena, its a different thing to see some owner giving it back, whatever little it might be ;) Its a business and they have invested in that and they are here to make profit, but the problem is that the rule doesnt apply to all owners i suppose
