Could the Maloofs Team Up with an Indian Tribe?

#1
Does anyone know if it would be possible for the Maloofs to team up with say the "United Auburn Indian Community?" I know that the deadline has passed for proposals, but it looks like they are sitting on almost 50 acres of land over at Thunder Valley Casino.

If the two combined forces they could have a large Casino/Sports & Entertainment facility. Since the Maloofs are already in the Casino business, it seems like it would be a good fit. The land is in Placer County, not Sac County, but at this point would anyone care?

I do not have any knowledge on how feasible it would be, but I would not mind going to catch a game at "Thunder Valley Arena."

That was already discussed with the Cache Creek tribe, I know, and reported in the Bee at one point. Didn't pan out, becasue the tribe wasn't sure a loan could be repaid. That's the whole problem. Most arenas can't carry a lot of debt or expensive debt.

As long as the Maloofs don't build the arena on a sacred Native American burial ground like where ARCO was built, I would think it would be okay.

This was actually brought up here on KF when Thunder Valley was announced. Our suggestion was that they build the new structure adjacent to the existing arena, and call the new complex ARCO Thunder Valley Arena, Casino and Resort but no one took us seriously.
