Corliss Williamson Suspension

Bench
While watching the game one of the commentators said Corliss was suspended for hitting Joe Przybilla. I didn't see the game. Was the "hit" suspension worth?

Wouldn't have thought it was, but it did look like he tackled him around the neck, and that was probably what they were sensitive to I'm guessing.

It was nice to see a King get pissed-off though, I think C-Webb laying out John Stockton in the playoffs a million years ago was the last time. Maybe Peeler goin' off on KG counts, but that could have cost us the series.

Could have?

I thought he was gonna get fined...but im not surprised by the suspension...to me it was a foul well spent and a suspension well spent...at least teams will now that when Corliss is in the game things aren't gonna be all peachy in the post...SO WATCH OUT!!

I agree except that I expected a suspension. They have really cracked down this year, almost to the point of ridiculousness. I think the refs did not see the whole play or they probably would have ejected him. Then again, maybe they were giving Big Nasty a break because they knew Przybilla deserved it.;)

Przybilla's elbow wasn't intentional. He was flaying around but he wasn't aiming at Kenny.

There is no doubt, on the other hand, that Corliss clearly took Przy to the floor. He did so with malice aforethought. It was most likely retribution for what Przy had done earlier, not specifically to Kenny's eye, but more likely for the way Przy had been treating other Kings players, including a couple of cheap shots to Corliss himself.

So, Corliss got the slap on the wrist and one game suspension - against the Lakers. I have no problem with it whatsoever - and I really think Nasty's actions are going to be something Przy remembers for a long time.

:D

Very True.

I always feel elbows are intentional with the way people swing them. ALA Malone.

I agree though and think Nasty gave JP something to remember in the future.

I agree. If the guys are taught to flail their elbows, it is with the express intent of getting people out of your way...a.k.a. clearing space. However, while they can say it is to clear space, they can also say that the elbow to someone's eye was just incidental contact. In my mind, you know when you flail your elbows that someone is liable to get hurt, but I guess you could never prove intent unless it looked like you were looking at someone directly and then brought your elbow around to where you are looking.

Well, that just sounded confusing. :o :p

Admitting he did it on purpose probably didn't help his cause either! Best one game suspension I've seen in a while...he got us going vs. Por. which led to a W and we beat LA. No Harm Done...Way to go Corliss!

I have no problem whatsoever with Ciorliss admitting it might just have been intentional.

He sent a lesson to a couple of bullies yesterday - to paraphrase the Texas Longhorns, "Mess with the Kings, and you get Nasty."

;)

i dont have a problem with it, either. corliss was just layin down the law. he may be an overpayed player, but at least he brings it all when he's on the court, and does a little dirty work here and there as well. it really remains to be seen whether or not he will remain with the kings, but i definitely can appreciate what he's brought the team thus far.

You know, maybe we need to think about farming out some of our other players to Detroit on a temporary basis. You know, send them for summer camp or something. See if they get tougher...

Imagine a "Detroitified" Peja...

I thought he was awesome against Portland. He had a double double. That armhold on Przybilla's neck was hilarious. He commented, Przybilla was pushing around our guys all night without being penalized for it. And when he started to push him, he wanted to send a message. Boy, I'm glad we acquired Williamson, Thomas, and Skinner because they have heart. They look out for the team. And it showed today as well. Thomas wasn't shaken from the elbow to his eyesocket. In fact, he played even more agressively today against the Lakers. Posting a double double and a career high, 32 points. Him and Skinner scraped for every rebound, and Williamson would have too had he not been suspended. I admire their toughness.

Well I have suggested that Pedja be abandonded near Rucker Park with $100 and told he has to make a living off of the court for the summer... no win no eat.

Peja in dreads, with numerous tattoos including at least one on the side of his neck.

Wearing an oversized retro NFL jersey, LOTS of bling - heavy bling, baggy pants and walking the walk...

Oh yeah.

The sight alone would totally disarm any opponents - it's impossible to play basketball when you're rolling on the court laughing hysterically and wetting yourself.

Or it could back fire...
Imagin Rip Hamilton with a nice razor cut 3 day growth, in a Euro cut Armani suit with a wafer thin watch and creap soled Italian shoes...
