Constructing a championship team with our current core.

Trade for Porter at the deadline and Hayward in the offseason using Cauley-Stein, Labissiere, Jackson, Mason, and/or our 2020 1st (able to be traded on or after the 2019 draft).

PG - Fox / Ferrell
SG - Hield / Bogdanovic
SF - Hayward
PF - Porter / Bjelica
C - Bagley / Giles

Porter & Hayward come off the books before we would need to pay Fox, Giles, & Bagley, and I'd expect both of those players to be making less per year when it is time to resign them (if it makes sense at the time).

  1. Fox looks like our future star/leader/#1 option
  2. Bagley has the potential to be another future star
  3. Hayward is` trying to find his rhythm coming back from injury. If he returns to form, you have another star player (2nd star on a good team/3rd star on a great team).
  4. Hield, Bogdan, & Porter all still have some potential and could be 3rd-4th options on a great team
  5. Giles is still a bit of a wild card, but he definitely has some star potential there.

Its a little early to start talking about championships.
The Kings have managed to make it to a .500 record. That is a huge accomplishment. It makes good players more likely to consider coming here.
Team defense and rebounding need to improve next, expecially at the 4 and 5. Bagley will solve some of it.

It's like talking about what you want for Christmas (or whichever holiday in which you participate). There's nothing wrong with talking about it. That's kind of what fan boards are all about. ;)

I would only bank on a core of Fox, Hield and Bagley at this point. Everything is else is up for grabs. I think this team has a long ways to go before it's a finished product and that there will be some surprising trades before all is said and done.

Am I the only one who has wondered more than once if Vlade has somewhat channeled Geoff Petrie at his best? Or perhaps even talked to him periodically? Or is it just the universe finally giving us another bite at the apple?

Okay next year for Christmas I would like a Ferrari Daytona.
