Computer problem-HELP?

I have a secondary computer that I use on occasion. It runs Win 98. The computer starts up fine but when I try to start an application I get the blue fatal error screen which I know is NOT good.

Not sure what to do from this point. I don't use the computer much it's mostly for my kids and it's netwoked to my main computer.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Scrap heap???


I had a computer that was running windows 98 and it was basically used by my kids. So many games and other crap got stored on it and it basically became so bogged down I just tried to junk it and restore it but it didn't happen. Bought myself a laptop to use and now our kids use our desktop.

Did you try a full virus scan with an updated antivirus program? Or does that make it crash too?

Haven't try that yet. I will when I get home.

It also might be a driver problem, it's probably not worth the trouble to figure out, just format it and start over.

Nice thing about 95 and 98 is that they reload well. Personlay I'd try reformating the HD.
