sure, I wouldn't be able to watch Prime or Peacock games but that leaves the rest of the games available
 
@The_Jamal 76ers Watford might be a guy to watch this season. Just had a triple double last night. Playing well above his status quo so far this season. Small sample size obviously but he might be one of those effective players that don't get much hype that we can keep an eye on.

Not quite as obvious as some of our the other guys in the past, but I get real intrigued when I see 17% Ast rate with a 59.9% TS and a 19.2% USG over his career at 6'8/6'9.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see if his numbers go back to his norms by the end of the year or if he's taken a step forward.

While I am supportive of strategies like the one the Pacers are currently employing, I wouldn't exactly call it "playing chess". It's the most obvious move on the board. It's a gap year for them, too. But don't waste it signing a bunch of "win now" pieces to try and accomplish something without Haliburton. Position yourself for next year (and the next decade). Their season ticket holders will thank them in the long run.

sure, obvious for front offices like the Pacers, Mavs and Nets. I don't see middle of the pack teams using the approach but then again star players are out for two of the teams mentioned so its a default decision rather than just staying afloat
 
So let’s talk about the Pacers. Finals team, 7 game series with the champs, Pacers. The Thunder have lost one game despite missing half their roster so far. The Pacers have one win. One of three teams in the league with just one, joining the Wizards and Nets.

So, is it:

A) it’s early, they will return to .500 or better at some point this season.

B) Hali has a Giannis/Jokic/SGA level impact and the team sucks without him

C) the Team is not as good as their late year run indicated (they just got hot/peaked chemistry wise) and they are more the team that they showed to be earlier in the season last year and for most the year the season before that?

it’s probably a bit of C but they’ve also been playing without all three of their point guards for most of the season. Also losing Myles Turner for absolutely nothing really hurt them more than they’d probably like to admit

Most of their depth has been ravaged by injuries too. Mathurin only played 2 games, Obi's played 3, Nembhard's played 2, McConnel hasn't played this season, they lost Myles Turner. I mean, those 5 right there were 5 of their top 8 guys last season, along with Hali/Nesmith/Pascal.

They also just flat out overachieved last year too, caught that "magic" run chemistry at the right time.

I'm pretty comfortable calling Hali one of the handful guys capable of making an All-NBA roster, but he's still got a ways to go before I include him in the Giannis/Jokic/SGA/Luka/Wemby MVP tier

One thing about Haliburton, is that he is a lot more than what he does as an individual player. He elevates all the players around him

I have believed that the answer was C since the Sabonis trade, and nothing has happened since that has changed my mind.
