[NBA] Comments that don't warrant a thread (AUG/SEP)

The guy has feel for the game like that, and then he goes home to his horses and could give two sh*ts about basketball. 🤣

Many out there live and breathe the game. A few among them are the greatest to ever play it. But there's just nobody like Jokic, who treats it like a humdrum 9-5 while doing it better than anyone currently living. He's amazing. I'm not sure there will ever be another like him.

Na he breathes the game in a different way

Maybe MadBum a decade ago (SF Giants)? He struck me as the same kind of cat but in baseball. Went home and chopped wood and worked his farm/ranch when he wasn't pitching.

This post will edge on not being allowed on this forum, if it's deleted I'm fine with it.

but...

Are we surprised that Schroeder is being subjected to this in the country that literal Nazis are from? It's bad enough here, I cant even imagine how it is for him over there. And somehow, him acknowledging it is frowned upon? GTFO here with that. The vast majority of us have never nor will never know what that is like.

There are lots of things basketball wise to not love Schroeder over, this is not one of them.

I think Schröder can occasionally say stuff that is over the top, like the slave master plantation comparison. But the racism he faces in Europe is 100% legit. Frankly I don't think it's a Germany thing as much as just a whole Europe thing, they were fairly homogenous nations a lot longer than we were. You see it all over European soccer with Black players when they play at certain clubs with nationalist fan bases. One of those quirks about cities having 3 or 4 top flight clubs each is that the largest supporter groups are often factionalized. The Scottish Old Firm being one of the obvious standouts, but you also see it in Milan and even the Barcelona/Madrid rivalry has political undertones.

So Schröder is in this weird place of having real, honest to god lived racism that nobody ever should deal with and also being overly dramatic when comparing his spot to Dirk's or the owner/employee relationship in the NBA.

The comparison to Dirk was bonkers.
NO ONE is saying what was said is okay. Gaslighting me aside, the issue is a pattern is developing here with only one common variable (that was my point).
I wasn't "gaslighting" anything. You complained that he was accusing someone of calling him racial slurs, as if he didn't have the right to call that out (and you seemed to be targeting him for some reason about this with your "needs attention" comment). I just said that nobody should be called racial slurs (and the news article said the accused fan got kicked out and was identified on video).

From the article linked above:
The German Basketball Association said two people were identified as the alleged perpetrators of the abuse and were subsequently ejected from the arena in Tampere. Later, FIBA officials said one fan was identified by video and will not be permitted to attend the rest of the event.

So, exactly how is that me "gaslighting"?

Is it racist to say dirks only loved over him cause he’s white or does it only work one way
I wasn't talking about Dirk. And we will not go down this road on the board.

There were fans spewing vile, racist garbage at him. They were identified by arena security and kicked out. It seems like his complaints were valid and not an overreaction or a call for attention as some have stated. That's what we're talking about.
