[COMICS] WTF, What?

Typical comic plot twist. Happened to Robin and bunches of others. Of course, this is just one adaptation of Capt. America. This does not mean it is the end of Captain America, it is just a ploy to sell comics... drum up interest in a relatively unpopular character... I will bet issue #25 is worth a lot already. Of course, in the comic universe, Capt. America can easily be brought back to life.

When I was younger I was a comic fanatic (have a lot of collectables: DC VS Marvel cross over, Spider Man #1 Ben Riley Clone Saga, etc).

I recently started to keep up with the story lines again thanks to Wikipedia synopsis of the comics.

Other things they have done within the past year was narrow done the number of mutants in the XMen series too about 200 (Prof X, Jubilee, and Quicksilver are now powerless, to name a few). They pretty much did this because it was becoming too easy to create new heroes just by saying he/she was born a mutant instead of creating interesting story lines.

Also they had a political type theme where superheros were debating on whether should have to register with the Government (so they could get paid for being a hero). Spider Man revealed his identity to the world because he was in support of it. Aunt May was killed as an after effect.

Just another way to rock the Marvel Comic universe to get people interested in comics again.

Just read the wiki article, they killed off the original Captain America, Steve Rogers in the main(true) Marvel Comic universe. TI also read that the comics lately have been taking on a more permanent path where they don't bring people back to life. They still have the other Captain America called US Agent, John Walker around.

wha?! he's the leader of the Avengers, or was rather.

i really just wanna know when hulk vs. wolverine #3 is coming out.

It sort of makes reference to this at the end of the article, but this is part of an alternate universe Civil War series, isn't it? I don't follow comic books but I'm aware that a lot of what goes on in this series isn't considered canon for most of the characters and depending on your world view certain heroes are now villains... feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

Nope, it's the main (canon) series.

This story made it on CNN yesterday.

couple other random links I was reading because of the new movie coming out:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom_(comics)

Pretty interesting if you were like me and read/watched the series when you were younger but fell out of it.

I guess it is still directly related to the Civil War series which maybe is not considered alternate universe at all, I was under the false impression that it was. Makes sense reading the wiki article that they'd tuck him away for a while if different political segments of America have different expectations of what they want from the Captain.

eta: Colbert had a great take on this tonight.
