Comcast wants to renegotiate tv deal, make it significantly more lucrative

HOLY ****!!!

This is ****ing awesome!

Now you add that ON TOP of the 9.2... Maybe get that contract up to... 18 at least? I think that's reasonable. All the sudden the Kings have another 18 mil straight their bottom line.

Viability. Any quesitons???

edit: just read a response on that website suggesting it might be to match the 20 mil. I think that's fair, and would be a good number.

Kabletown, coming to play. Great post, man. This is exactly what I was hoping for in another thread. Between this, today's meeting, the news about clearing out the railyards for development, the bucket of fail that is the TV deal with Samueli in Anaheim, etc., a phrase comes to mind. I believe it goes something like "when it rains, it pours." Only, you know, not the depressing kind of rain.

It only makes sense as if I recall correctly, the first team they broadcast was the Kings and they are very limited in the number of teams they broadcast. I believe it is isolated to NorCal but would happily be corrected. They lose income if the team moves. They lose a little status also. It would be ideal if PBP (a scam, imo) was replaced by Comcast as the signage on the arena.

Samueli apparently was going to have his own company bradcast games for a year, until the lakers fox deal runs out in 2012, and then the maloofs could negotiate with fox. Samueli was going to pay the maloofs about $20M next year, right about the league average. What if CSN offers a deal near the league aveage? That would be an extra $9M from CSN, and about $18M combined with corporate sponsorships. Maloofs are being offered a lot of money it just stick around for a year and see if Sac can get an arena plan finalized.

Hopefully, Comcast will sponsor a new arena. I don't want that sham of a company PBP to be associated with the Kings.

Yeah. For a price!! Sell the naming rights to the current arena to Comcast next year for another 3 mil! call it 21!!

I would like her to eat crow as well.

Does anyone recall the original deal with ARCO? It was $1 mil in perpetuity. Not per year. One payment. I believe 10-15 years ago the team went to ARCO and asked if it could be renogiated and they said no. Incredible. I presume they eventually caved in.

Hey, as long as Webber' flashing the paper these days, let's see if he wants in on some naming rights. Return of "Center Court with C-Webb" anyone? I promise the food at this place will be better, though.

...the garlic fries, at least.

her name was Kris Murray. i wish i had her contact info id send her a polite email about never understimating the power of cowbell banging kings fans. and tell her to go play with her rally monkeys

I'm sure you could get it real easy. just google up the city of anaheim's website. should be on there. Legally I think.

Funny, I had the exact same thought.

Things are falling into place. I really, really have a good feeling, now, that things are going to work out. Good for Sacramento, good for the Kings and good for my boys, the Maloofs.

(BTW: the Rally Monkey RULES. Never underestimate the power of the Monkey :p )

GO KINGS!!

They tried to get a deal with Fox. They couldnt get the money they wanted. Samueli's tv station was a backup plan. I've been saying this all along, just cause a channel doesnt have programing in a time slot doesn't mean they are going to spend money in that time slot. Other programs (Lakers, LA Kings, Clippers, Ducks) already have market share in the timeslot. Add in that the Angels have the 2nd lowest ratings in all of baseball doesnt help Anaheims cause since fox has that contract.
