Coach Karl plans to consider Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman for Assistant Coach?

"Sacramento coach George Karl could try to add one assistant to the Kings staff for the balance of this season – perhaps Philadelphia's Vance Walberg – but he's already started to formulate possibilities for next season and beyond.

Among them, Karl plans to consider the assistant-coaching candidacy of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

i am for this. whats the history of female assistants in the NBA ?

if Karl feels like she brings the cred and the skillset then perfect, hire her. Payton can go take his trash talk somewhere else
Exactly 1! Spurs hired Beck Hammon last year.

And I know nothing about her, or her credentials to coach, but if Karl thinks shes got chops then have at it.

She was a great player but it's been awhile since she coached. Also if you listen to her on the radio she comes off more as the usual disconnected media than a coach.

Bringing in Nancy Lieberman would be a tremendous asset. She's forgotten more basketball than most people know, and she's done it all in an era where the women's game isn't anything like what it is today. She's about as fierce as they come, and I don't doubt that she carries the necessary panache to deal with players on this team.

As a bonus, I'm confident that she would beat Mullin in a 3 pt contest, "using a guy's ball", so I'm sure Vivek would OK the move.

Lieberman is one of the original women stars. I know nothing bad about her as she has been respected for a very long time. It's up to Karl and finally we have some one in charge who knows what he is doing on the level of the best.

Hope.

I feel it for the first time in a decade. It's a great feeling.

IMO, it doesn't matter if she's a female. Bring in the best and brightest! Very good to see a coach committed to development of the players we already have. Which is why we should keep Stauskas

Its all the trend now with Pop breaking ground. But does not bother me a bit. In fact a decade late.

Its like the Kayte thing, not a reason in the world that a woman can't coach the game as well as a man. Especially as an assistant coach where you don't get into the difficult will a bunch of alpha males follow a woman into battle stuff that...who knows.

There SHOULD be women color commentator/announcers. There SHOULD be women assistant coaches. All I ask is that its not token. I wanted Kayte back here because she is seriously (outside of perhaps her own female predecessor Kara Lawson, who unfortunately lacked charisma) maybe the single best basketball analyst I remember being around the Kings. That she happens to have ovaries as well was just icing. If Lieberman is at that level as a coach, bring her on.

Karl is going to turn this culture upside down in a very positive way. Starting with a very balanced coaching staff that may include an NBA great player and one of the most accomplished women in the game.

It's gonna get really good in a hurry
