Chris Webber gives his thoughts on the Kings

“But the instability for players is the worst thing you can have. I had instability in Washington. I couldn’t imagine playing in Sacramento, one of the best places in the world to play, and the great fans there talking about everything else but you all the time. When we were in Sacramento, they never talked about anything else. Now when I go there, all they’re talking about is, ‘Why don’t the Maloofs do this?’ That uncertainty has that effect, just that energy. I have never seen the Kings not sell out games. They’re playing in front of 8,000 people, it’s not fun.”

Yep, CWebb said "it's not fun."

CWebb is 100% correct. It's not fun for anybody -- players, fans, etc. If the Maloofs had one ounce of decency left in them they would apologize to the city of Sacramento and sell to somebody who is willing to invest in this team and city.

Ah, well, that's the rub. Remember when we were thrilled to have the Maloofs as owners? Does anyone remember that? Who stole them?

Never mind. It was George. Would someone build him a small restaurant with some slot machines in them and have him go manage it?

You know, I'd just settle for a little honesty. Just tell us what your intentions are? What, preytell is your plan going forward? Please Gavin and Joe, tell us why the two of you, both older, bend to the will of George, who appeared to be a lunatic at that famous press conference? I don't need an apology, I just need honesty, the truth. The city of sacramento, and the loyal fans deserve to know, as do your employees.

Gavin, you were crying with joy when the arena deal was done. You certainly looked sincere to me. I see you and Joe at the games, so its obvious to me that the both of you love the game and the team. How about the two of you growing a pair, and actually doing something. How about standing up for what you believe in. How about a little resolve. This situation requires leadership. And you can't lead anything with a committee. One of the two of you needs to take the bull by the horns, and take responsibility. Will someone in that family, other than George, stand up and be counted.

Is the team theirs or the city's? A central question for sports teams. I think the Magoofs think of the Kings calculatedly, like a business entity of theirs that they can do what they want with.

Great post. I really hope Joe and Gavin read it.
