Celts/Sixers

Kings113

All-Star
...Third 3OT game of the year! Division rivals going at it, tons of big plays and drama. This should replay on one of the ESPNs in the early morning, I'd strongly recommend taping it or staying up to watch. It'll be edited to 2 hours, but they'll show all the good stuff.

Webb/AI were simply fantastic for Philly, and Dalembert had a terrific game.

Another instant classic, IMO.

Suns/Knicks, Suns/Nuggs, Sixers/Celts- all three have been just awesome entertainment.

Truthfully speaking, Webb almost blew the game. Twice. Now he's gonna have to hear all the timeout talk again. Poor guy. :(

Jim Gray tried to make a jokey comment about it, but I think it made Webb a little angry.

All the Philly boards I've gone to I basically hear that most fans want him gone. They think they'll be able to trade him no problem. The best deal they could realistically get is:

Sac Trades:
Brian Skinner, Kenny Thomas, and Corliss Williamson

Philly Trades:
Chris Webber, Matt Barnes, and Micheal Bradley.

Yeah! He sucks. I can see why we traded him.

Thank Goodness we got rid of him! That lead weight around our ankles is finally gone, so now we can aspire to.... this?? I actually went to over to a good friend's house tonight, and he was a big supporter of the trade. I hadn't seen him in a couple months, and I walked into the end of the 2nd qtr of the Kings game. I glanced at the TV and said "Thank God we traded Webb. All these years he's been holding us back from THIS!" To my friend's credit, he burst into laughter and gracefully conceeded that things are bad, very bad.

Never going to get it.

didn't see the game, but his stats didn't look too bad. What happened?

I visit several Philly websites, and most people seem to like him except for a few hecklers. And even those wouldn't trade back for KT, Skinner, and Corlisss.

Got called for the charge near the end of the game on the go ahead shot. Then in the second overtime, I think, can't remember which one, with about 4 seconds left on the clock got the rebound and never called a timeout so they could advance the ball and get the final shot. Then Bill Walton says some stupid thing about, "Chris Webber and a timeout controversy, who would've thought!" or something to that effect. People just can't let things die I guess.

Still came up big. Webber is still a very good player.

He didn't almost blow the game on that play; the game was tied, and they had the ball. He did commit a potentially game-costing turnover in 2OT, though.

Webber's line after regulation: 11pts (4-7 FG%, 2-2 FT%), 6reb, 1ast, 1stl, 1blk. That be clutch.

Regardless it was really Webber and not Iverson that seemed to perform during the clutch. The clutch free throws and more importantly the steal that sealed the game outweigh the offensive foul. The incredible between the legs dribble to the alley oop to Sammy Dalembert was def. the play of the season.

Last few points and the game winning steal too. Webber played well down the stretch and AI wasn't exactly tearing it up with those bricks and turnovers, but what impressed me was they won as a TEAM. When Ai brought the ball down with 4 ticks left in the 2nd overtime and gave it up to Korver for the game tying 3, my jaw hit the floor, maybe i was wrong about him after all, he showed a lot of trust in his teamates tonight. That was a fun game to watch, they are a fun team to watch, I wish I could say the same about the Kings.

not too shabby! Thanks STK for the info, always interested in the details. Looks like Webb was big for Philly tonight, and I'm always happy when he has a big night. Especially when it's on a night the Kings lose, it seems to be the only bright point in a very dismal evening.

Webber leads Sixers in marathon win over Celtics*
Box Score | 76ers Home | Celtics Home

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Chris Webber now has a permanent place in Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics folklore.

In a triple-overtime thriller, Webber had 31 points, 13 rebounds and seemingly every big play as the 76ers outlasted the Celtics, 125-124.

Allen Iverson had 33 points and 10 assists, Samuel Dalembert added 20, 11 rebounds and seven blocks and Kyle Korver had a huge 3-pointer at the double-overtime buzzer for the Sixers, who overcame a 16-point third-quarter deficit and trailed in all three extra sessions.

It was the 395th all-time meeting between the storied franchises and one that will be remembered for a long time. Players on both teams were on the verge of exhaustion but kept making big plays, none more so than Webber, who appeared to have more bounce in his step as the game wore on.

The highlight came in the first overtime, when Webber went behind his back and through his legs with a dribble before throwing a lob to Dalembert for a dunk and a 107-103 lead with 2:23 remaining. Teammate Andre Iguodala grabbed his head in disbelief.

But Webber's biggest play came on the defensive end. After he made two free throws with 1:22 left in the third overtime, the teams traded a pair of empty possessions. Mark Blount rebounded Korver's missed 3-pointer, but Webber sneaked behind him, knocked the ball loose and corraled it with about 10 seconds to play.

The Celtics appeared both stunned and exhausted and finally fouled Iverson with two seconds to go. Iverson missed the first, then intentionally missed the second. With no timeouts, the Celtics could only get Delonte West's 60-foot runner, which hit the backboard, ending the 3:43 marathon.

i believe that was the game of the season....simply phenomenal with incredible plays and memorable moments.....it almost felt like watching a vintage game on espn classic....Webber's steal was reminiscent of Havlicek, Korver's three - Reggie Miller....it's games like these that transform games into the stuff of legends

Everyone made critical mistakes.

Korver let Scalabrine inbound off his ***.

With less than a minute left in one of the OTs, Iverson did a around the back pass to Korver's Knee.

Their good plays obviously overshadowed their bad since the Sixers ended up with a W.

This is exactly the reason why the Sixers made the trade. None of this hogwash about defense--I mean come on folks, its not like they were expecting to get Ben Wallace but got Ralph Sampson instead (no offense to Sampson, just a name in the example). They knew exactly what they were getting with Webber and didn't trade for him for his defesne. They traded to have another star, for another major player along side AI and tonight (and for a good portion of the season, Webb's been having a pretty ok year) that is what they got.

That was the best game I've seen in a long time. That play from Webb to Dalembert for the dunk was just incredible. It was play of the day on nba.com but link not working right now. Even Iggy couldn't believe it and he knows how to dunk. As AI and Webb said after the game, that was fun and if you don't like that, you definitely don't like basketball. Great to see Webb play so well especially on D. I taped it and plan on watching it again tomorrow.

amazing game!

when the celtics started draining those 3 ptrs (at one point they were 8/11) i thought the game would be over. Philly gave up 65 points at the half, too. but wow, philly faught back bigtime!

i am sooooo happy for cwebb! :D
