Casspi in Israel's national team

I'm going to say this now...Omri is a dark horse candidate for 6th man of the year. I can see him and Collison being lethal in transition.

This game wasn't his best game, but he played good D and got to the line.

About 3 minutes to halftime -
Israel leads 41-31 against Bosnia,
and Casspi has 18 points already...
(In 17 minutes!).
I like it. :)

Halftime update:
Omri with 20 pt, 3 reb, 3 ast (in 19 mins).

20!... without forcing it...
With no-one else in either teams having double figures... GREAT.

A minute to go.
Israel about to lose it, due to giving away 20 offensive rebounds (!)
Omri paying the price for taking 0.5 a minute rest in the 1st half...

Currently Casspi is leading all scorers in Euro (and there're some guys you may heard about... like Nowitzki, Gasol, Gallinari...) with 20 ppg on 51.3% fg, 45.5% 3pt. He also has 7.7 rpg and 4.0 apg.
But there's dark side to the story which is also not really his fault - Casspi also leads all players in all teams in minutes per game - 38.7 min, and it's full 4 minutes more than 2nd and 3rd players in the list... So he is fatigued and has 4.3 turnovers pg (also more than any other player) and shots only 57.7% from the line...
The coach decided to use very short rotation as he feels that every time anybody who is not one of 6 or 7 best players of the team enters court - they are starting to loose... Maybe it's correct but still there're 5 games in 6 days, and when 3 israeli palyers are in 6 top by minutes per games - it's "red flag"

That is pretty neat that Omri is leading in PPG.

Those TOs and FT % though! Yikes!

Still, I'm expecting a big year from him. He was a KILLER under Karl.

Kings need to use Casspi to get Eliyhaou to Sac town dude is a absolute ****ing stud and would be a terrific bench big has it all.

I haven't watched any of the games but based on the box scores Omri has been a baller in this Euro basket tournament...that's great to see, he will be in game shape come October and that is great news for the bench.

Israel just beat Poland in the score of 75-73, another tight game, nothing comes easy in this tournament.
This win means that Israel was able to qualify to the round of the 16, as for now we are in the second place at our division, but it all will depend on the Polish national team, we might finish in the third place, but we've still been able to qualify.

Omri had quite a quiet night in terms of scoring, but very solid overall, he had 14 points and 7 rebounds, but he was doing good job guarding his man and making sure the win goes to Israel.

Mekel led the squad in scoring with 18 points, and then our center D'or Fischer had 15 points, Eliyahu twisted his ankle in the game which prevented him from getting to his zone so he only had 4 points, but overall everyone who played in this game for Israel was able to contribute to the team effort.

I am very happy we were able to qualify to the next round and I'm sure that the players are even happier.

On a funny note
(since it's an absolute stretch...) -

Note that if, by some miracle or great performances, Israel wins the last game tomorrow against star-packed France
(With Parker, Diaw, Batum, Gobert, Lauvergne, De-Colo, Gelabele, Fournier, Pietrus...) -
Then Israel finishes 1st  in the group!! :D

Note also:
2 steals and just 1 TO for Omri tonight!

No. It's sealed... Israel will finish at least at 2nd place as the team already have 3 wins, Russia and Bosnia are already out, Poland and Finland both with 2 wins and playing one another in last game but both lost to Israel. And if Israel (somehow...) wins today against France the team finishes 1st in the group.

Casspi's stats per game for now:
18.5 points (50% fg, 50% 2pt... 50% 3pt - but only 57.7% ft) - 5th overall
7.5 rebounds - 10th overall
3.5 assists
6.3 fouls drawn - 5th overall
and also
37.8 minutes - 1st overall
and
3.5 turnovers - 5th overall
