I don't think this really warrants a new topic, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put it so I figured I might as well. If anyone else wants to discuss Caron Butler aka "Tough Juice", now you have a place to.
Anyway, what I wanted to post was the stats. I was looking up steals because it seems like Ron's been getting a lot of them lately. Apparently he hasn't played enough games to qualify for the league leader board, but if he did he would currently be tied for third in the league with 2.3 -- tied with Caron Butler who also doesn't have enough games to qualify. Then when I started looking at the rest of their stats, I'll be damned if they're not practically the same player! Check it out:
(GP) (MIN) | (FGM) (FGA) (FG%) | (3PM) (3PA) (3P%) | (FTM) (FTA) (FT%) | (OREB) (DREB) (REB) | (AST) (TO) | (STL) (BLK) (PF) (PTS)
WAS 53 39.9 | 7.7 16.7 46.3 | 1.1 3.1 36.1 | 4.1 4.5 91.6 | 1.6 5.2 6.8 | 4.8 2.5 | 2.3 0.3 2.8 20.7
SAC 53 38.3 | 7.6 16.7 45.7 | 1.4 3.8 36.7 | 3.9 5.3 72.1 | 1.8 4.0 5.8 | 3.6 2.6 | 2.3 0.7 2.8 20.5
Hopefully those stats aren't too hard to read (Butler is first, Artest is second). Butler leads Artest by about 1 defensive rebound and one assist per game as well as having the much better free throw percentage (freakishly good actually). Ron attempts more threes but makes them at about the same rate. He also blocks about twice as many shots. It's fascinating to me that the numbers can be that identical. I guess it's no surprise then that both are in my top 3 favorite players in the league -- (Gerald Wallace, Caron Butler, Ron Artest in that order). I'm holding out on buying an Artest jersey (for obvious reasons) but I just got a Butler jersey and I love it. I'd get a Wallace jersey too but they're hard to find. That doesn't make me a bad fan does it?
And hey, just for fun -- Gerald Wallace:
CHA 59 38.5 | 6.6 14.8 45.1 | 1.2 3.6 31.9 | 5.1 7.0 72.8 | 1.0 5.1 6.0 | 3.5 3.0 | 2.1 1.0 3.1 19.6
Pretty similar too.
