Carmichael Dave shows support

I think emotions have made us look at placing blame in any way possible, and while there is plenty of blame to go around as to why we are now at this point in team history, maybe we can focus for just one post even :) on what the bottom line is here.

The bottom line is, no matter how we got to this point, the only way the Kings stay now is based on goodwill.

It is pretty clear that if it is for strictly financial reasons, the Kings should move. Sacramento right now is not as lucrative a market as Anaheim would be for the team. It just isn't. We all know this no matter what our emotions might say to the contrary. And the truth is, even if Bill Gates were to say this very hour that he, "Loves the Kings and will donate the money for a new arena" the Maloofs will still have to have the Kings play at Power Balance Place for 4 to 6 years! It took 5 years for Orlando's new arena to be built from the day they announced the deal. So, knowing that by committing to staying in Sacramento you were committing to playing in PBP for the next 5 years with perhaps the attendance numbers they have been getting in this "no-sign-of-turning-the-corner" economy... would YOU stay if it were your business being discussed. It makes no sense for them to stay.

However...

We think, and hope, and pray that they like it here. And like having us as fans even when we are fickle and don't attend games now when the team is under-performing.

And that goodwill between the Maloofs and the fans is all we have to believe in that might make them stay.

That is why Dave is upset, I think, by KJ's public stepping on of that tenuous goodwill we hope we still have. Even if KJ is probably right about some of the things going on, and I think most of us would agree that certainly KJ, in his heart, is a huge fan of keeping the Kings here, it is worrisome to have the goodwill between our city and the team being squashed even a little right now.

Using cool logic... by most signs the team is gone.

But hopefully, and all we can really hold on to at this point, logic won't always prevail when you are talking about a team and/or city you love.

This is dumb. The only way they stay here is to build an arena.

It's like having a disease that's probably too far along to be cured. Instead of focuing on getting treatment and trying to fix the problem, you just want to hope the problem goes way for 12 months and kills you then.

To anybody who can see the big picture, the Here We Stay and media push served one important goal. Getting 5 votes to fund an arena on the city's bill. That keeps the Kings for 30 years.

Begging the Maloofs to say might get you 12 months, and there might not be any Kings game during that time.

You are right about one thing. The goodwill is gone. Dumb kings fans are pushing back on the guy that actually needs the Here We Stay momentum - KJ.

____

As for the deal probably already being done. Per Grant, 4 NBA teams filed for relocation last year. After you file on 3-1, you don't have to act until the 4-14 meeting. None of the teams that applied moved. We didn't know about it until a year later.

So if the Maloofs: (1) are thinking about moving; (2) but aren't sure; and (3) need until 4-14 to decide ... why ask the NBA to create an extension for the first time? Just do what 4 other teams did - apply, consider, and refuse to answer questions on the topic.

The extension is a smoke screen to keep people calm and grab more cash.

They are either selling tickets here, trying to get a better offer down south, or both. KJ can see the writing on the wall. Yet, he's still fighting for Sacramento to get a deal. He's trying to fight for time the team hasn't given him. End of story.

The people bashing KJ don't understand what's really going on and are in denial.

No sense in insulting a fellow fan. I agree the arena is the center of the problem but I also agree emotion is a factor in buying extra time to try to get the arena. It wasn't dumb.

Ha, Ha. Thanks for the update, Captain Obvious. But the only way the Maloofs decide to wait through the five to six years of hard times it will take even if the arena is approved next week is through goodwill. As much as professional sports is run as "a business" to make money, the owners are all typically just richer than normal fans of the team. And we are at a point now that we need the Maloofs to let that being a fan of the "Sacramento Kings", two words, hold sway over pure financial reasoning. Are the Maloofs at a point where they can even just "break even" with the team for the next 5 years and keep their financial empire alive? We better hope so because that is what we are asking them to do here. And that is ALL about goodwill towards us if we are asking them to do that.

As far as the rest of your post. Preferring to hope that something can still get done, does not mean one is in denial. You could be completely correct in your assessment. There may be little chance left at this point. It doesn't matter though, because without the goodwill there is zero chance.

This is nonsense. Goodwill doesn't fix or fund this. You need a plan from ICONN, then it goes to the city, then you need five yes votes to fund it. That cannot happen in a week, even if Jesus attends the Here We Stay or the Kings fans buy every ticket to every game left.

KJ thinks he needs at least 90 days. The Maloofs gave him 45. KJ is fighting for more time by going after the Kings. That's it.

Look, I'm a Kings fan that hopes they can get something done. But when people are throwing around nonsense in here, I point it out. While I'm not always right, I've proven to have an ok read on this stuff over the last few years.

I often get "You are probably right, but just leave us alone" or "you don't know that" or "You are wrong, but I can't tell you why" which is fine and then I drop the point, because it's not worth it.

I'm telling you. By going after KJ, you are not just missing the point. For the first time, you are hurting the process / and ways to fix the problem. This is dumb. You should stop.

But most likely it doesn't matter what you or KJ does, because the team is probably already gone.

What are your solutions? What can we as fans of the Kings do to tip the scale even slightly in our direction?

If you think they are already gone, why not step aside and wait for an AnaheimRoyalsFan.com web site to appear?

Write out some very big checks.

Oh for crying out loud. Did you even read what I wrote? I say that even if they decided next week to do an arena here that it would take 5 years to build it and you turn that into me saying that a decision can be made in a week?!?!?????

I'll spell it out clearer for ya.

Even if ICONN comes up with some sort of miraculous plan that takes zero public or Maloof money, the Maloofs still have to be willing to stay here for 5 years probably making little or no profit. That, my friend, at this point will take a hell of a lot of goodwill from the Maloofs. If the ICONN plan calls for the Maloofs to spend money on the arena, and the Maloofs agree to it, then that would take a dump truck full of goodwill from them.

Yes, we ALL know that we need an arena to keep them, and we all know that KJ is our best bet at helping to sway the votes. But publicly calling out the Maloofs at this point serves no good purpose, even if they are wrong. What, do you think KJ playing hardball is going to make the council say, "we'll show you, Maloofs, leave us and we will build an arena to spite you!"

And the 45 days came about because the board will bring it up in discussion at that time when they are getting together for a normally scheduled meeting. Nothing must be finally decided then. At least get your facts straight before you holler wolf!

If you wish to continue to proclaim that it is all a done deal so that you can win some kind of "told-you-so" contest when it finally IS all done, then go right ahead my friend. :) Blowing out everyone elses candles doesn't make yours burn any brighter though. ;)

No need to wait, people were getting started on those a few days ago.

Interesting. I was thinking more of a fan site but this must have been purchased by the "team." The days of buying an address and charging phenomenal amounts of money to the real Anaheim Royals are over. I don't think that is a good sign for us at all. Here's the record of who owns it.

So what does it mean? It means someone who has a web creating company in Scottsdale bought the rights to this name. They bought it Feb 23, 2011 which to me, only to me because what I say is not fact, that something got serious around that date.

Specific names pronbably won't help as it will be the website makers. These won't appear until a site actually is created.

I feel real nervous. My anxiety level just tripled.

If there are other Maloof web sites other than the Kings, we should look and see who created their web site. Palms is an obvious place to start.

Palms website was created by a company in Las Vegas.

Thanks, cstorm.

Domains by Proxy is a company that allows the owners to remain secret for an extra charge when you register a new domain. It is associated with GoDaddy.
