After what happened most good coaches are either already working, or wouldn't want to take a chance with such a deluded front office having power over them.

And the underlying problem remains completely 100% with Vivek/PDA/Mullin. the idiots inherited the best center of his generation, and their basketball ideology was totally unprepared to maximize that gift. Instead they fight it at every turn. I rather doubt their shortlist of coaches includes ANYBODY who should be coaching the best center of his generation. Not Karl, not Gentry, not Mullin, none of them.

And this is exactly why I don't think Tibs would even be an option. If he were to be let go (which he hasn't been) I would think there might be better places (in his evaluation) for his services than here. It's a big gamble to wait for someone who may never be available to begin with and pass up on a darn good coach who should be able to get this team on a winning path. I don't think Karl is taking us to the Finals next year, but I think he would push us in the direction of the PO within 2. And that is the direction we need. For now, anyways. Positive movement that gets the team used to winning and the fans excited about the Kings again.

If Karl IS your first choice, then you don't wait months after canning Malone, you go get the guy that you want ASAP. This season is about wins, remember? You don't mess around with a "substitute teacher" hoping the guy you want will still be there in 6 months.

If you aren't in a big enough hurry to get Karl (your stated number one choice) now, why fire Malone and compound the mistake by making Corbin more than an interim coach? Corbin wasn't your pick for assistant and he doesn't have a great history record-wise. What is the rationale for thinking that was going to turn out well? The entire internet exploded with "WTF?" when Malone was fired. Is our front office the only trio that was really that clueless??? If Malone and PDA were not communicating well, Vivek should pull them into a room and bang their heads together and say that they need to put their big boy underoos on and work together. If that doesn't work and you do have to fire someone, make sure you have a plan to replace that person with someone better BEFORE you show them the door during the middle of the season.

You apparently have missed where DMC is calling out his team for their play and saying this is the most frustrated he's been since coming to Sacramento. You think another half season of playing under Corbin is going to make him want to stay???

Karl is asking to come here. He's got the credentials. No other hall of fame coach is asking. When a good coach does become available at the end of the season, the best still won't be asking to come here. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth (whatever that means).

If the DOESN'T happen.... it's yet another humiliation for the FO.

But I will add this: I do not want anybody coaching this team that does not have the full approval of Cousins ahead of time. I'm ok with him handpicking our next coach. Maybe he's making a play to re-hire Malone.

I go back to what I said earlier... Demarcus's camp is against Karl. Yet, veryone wants Karl..

This draft pick is not going to be the difference between Cousin's relationship and the FO.. what's wrong with getting a new coach AND keeping the draft pick?

I get where you're coming from Brick but they simply aren't going to go out and hire Mike Malone 2.0. We've been playing the coach merry go round for nearly a decade now and we haven't had a coach with Karl's credentials come knocking until right now. You don't throw that out because it could be another decade in between. The guy has taken his teams to the playoffs nearly every year of his career and that's without a dominate big man. I'll play devils advocate and say maybe he'll be even better with a dominate big man.

So let's see...

Team is in freefall? Check.
Team refuses to play hard for current coach? Check.
One of the winningest coaches in NBA history is available? Check.
Said coach has repeated history of turning around bad teams? Check.
Said coach is interested in the job? Check.
Fanbase wants said coach? Check.
General Manager wants said coach? Check.

...Hey, Vivek! What exactly is the hang-up here?!?
