Representatives from the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Taxpayers League are scheduled next week to discuss the pros and cons of the effort to persuade Sacramento County taxpayers to fund construction of a new Kings arena.
Sacramento voters will be asked to approve two ballot measures -- Q and R -- on Nov. 7 that would increase the sales tax and ask if they want the new money spent on an arena and other community amenities.
The quarter-cent sales tax initiative will be the featured topic at the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce general meeting at noon Tuesday at the Carmichael Park Clubhouse, 5750 Grant Ave.
The meeting is open to the public, but reservations are required. The deadline for reservations is 2 p.m. Friday. Cost of the luncheon is $13.50 prepaid and $15 at the door. To reserve a seat, call the chamber office at (916) 481-1002.
