Hey, it's never too early to ask.

I know everybody is thinking 'playoffs' right now, well, I took it one (HUGE) step further. Just curious to find out what people think our chances are of pulling a crazy upset and winning it all this season.

Don't kill me, it's just a question.

Can we do WHAT!!??

If we could somehow sneak up into the #6 seed we could win the first round (of course said same last year). Does that count as "it all?" ;)

Funny how we go from "can we win at all?" to "can we win it all?" in a matter of a few weeks.

lol. Clever.

The Kings have been showing promise, but they're definitely not there yet. If they can get an interior defender/rebounder to guard the best 4/5 and if they can either get a primary scoring option at the 2 or if Kevin Martin develops into that primary scoring option that can score at will (and not just opportunistically) they might be part of the conversation.

This lineup:

PG: Bibby/Garcia
SG: Star or Martin/Bonzi
SF: Artest/Garcia
PF: interior defender & rebounder/Shareef
C: Miller/interior defender & rebounder

Otherwise, it's all just a matter of killing our lottery chances in exciting fashion. Which is fine with me given how crappy this draft is and how unlikely it is the Kings would get top 3 pick anyway.

Realistically .... a few weeks ago I WASN'T SO SURE they would even make the playoffs.

So, for now ... I'll say 1st Round (without knowing who they'll be playing)

Put this same poll here when there's about 5 to 6 games left in the season ... heck, put it back when the season is over and we know exactly who is playing who

No. But... Kings can be a Cinderella team in WC playoffs, and maybe surprise in round 1 pending a 6th/7th seed.

This is like chanting ov-er-ra-ted! when you're only up by 5 against a ranked team with 1:30 left. Kiss of death, as far as I'm concerned. No vote from me. ;)

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I think it would be first round and out this year. Probably next year, we will make some serious noise in the playoffs -- not championship caliber unless we acquire someone special.

No vote for me either. I will not talk playoffs until we are actually in. And by actually in I mean actually qualified. There is way too much basketball to be played, and we are only in the 9th spot. Utah, Houston, and LA are all playing realy well all of the sudden. It is possible that only one of us makes the playoffs.

Do I think this team could be special? Yes. Do I enjoy watching Kings Basketball again? Yes. But do I think we don't even make the playoffs? It is possible.

Right now there is way too much up in the air. We could finish on a tear and not even make the postseason.

However I am absolutely excited for the last 21. The future is once again bright.

Let's take them one at a time guys!!!

Same for me.

One game at a time...one game at a time.

I am NOT going to make the mistake of being so focused on what happens after April 18 that I miss what's happening right now.

No vote from me either...

GO KINGS!!!!!

everything could happen in basketball, even Syracuse was able to upset No. 1 Connecticut, I guess Kings can beat Dallas in the first round

I was going to say second round, but it doesn't make sense at all. If the Kings make it past the first round, they may go all the way to the conference finals. We are probably going to play San Antonio in the first round. We love our Kings, but really. Can the Kings beat San Antonio in a seven-game series? I doubt it.

First round and out. We will get them next year.

Until the scoreboard tells me differently Im going to keep hoping we can go all the way.

At the beginning of this season I thougth Peja would step up and Bibby would show hi sleadership qualities. I guess i was a little off the mark there so ....maybe my optimism is unfounded at this time....

This road trip and the results we have achieved give some indication of the potential of this unit...and that is a reason to be excited!

Go Kings !!

As of right now there are fourteen people who have lost their minds right now, who think that the Kings can make Conference Finals, Final or even win it all. It gives no credibility at all to some of these threads when people have discussions like this.

As of right now the Kings might make the playoffs, if they get extremley hot a the right time and draw the right first round team then they have a slim chance of making the second round, but with the first round being 7 games now that hurts them, because they would need to play perfect for 4 games instead of just 3, to get out of the first round.

Seeing there progressing it may be nice for them to get some playoff experience as a core group, but I still expect some shake-up before next year so I do not even know how important that really is at this point except for an upward trend to cary to next season.

Also, these comparisons to the 99 Knicks are Ridiculous, you had a horrible eastern conference and a Knicks squad who was injury riddled all year, got health at the right time, and oh yeah, it was a short season! If anything the Kings are closer to the 94 nuggets than the 99 knicks.

Whoa. Somebody run over your pet gerbil or something, macadocious?

So some people have more hope, faith, or whatever than others...

You're seriously lamenting a lack of credibility in threads on a message board? Boy, do NOT go near the Lounge.

;)

VF,

In my opinion the quality of posts, minus a few regulars in the past month have been a bunch of the same boring stuff and then people post these ridiculous polls and they just irk me a bit, thats all.

Would I love to see the Kings win it all this year, of course who wouldn't, but it is next to impossible, with regards to our talent vs. what we would be facing on the way there through mulitple rounds. There is a reason that this team is one game under .500 not because they are championship quality. I think a dose of reality needs to be in effect here. This team will not win like the old one did until we get an offensive star. Period.

Artest is not that guy, he is a great number 2 guy, so is Bibby and Miller is a great 3rd guy, but we need a top 15 player to ride and unless we get lucky in the draft, or some team decides to rebuilda dn trade us a star, it is going to be a lot like Minnesota in Sactown, with first round departures. We had that with Webber, he got hurt and now we don't, we do not have anybody who can consistently take over a game offensively, and please do not say Bibby, the guy is great, hits big shots, has huge big game balls, but when your point guard is your leading scorer and dominates the ball you will not win consistently. heck even the only time Philly with AI made it to the finals they had to have him play 2.

I guess I would like to see more realistic posts, more speculation as to how the Kings can get better. This Thread just caught me as half insane. Maybe I'm PMSing, but then I would really need to speak to a doctor because I'm a guy and I would have a lot more to worry about than the Kings making the playoffs:rolleyes:

I don't think there is anything wrong with this post. It's just a poll and it does have all the choices which does include not voting and not even looking at this thread. I vote first round exit.

I understand. We have a wide diversity of fans here...some like the mundane, some like the more in-depth analysis. Luckily for us, we're on a board where there's room for both.

I find it interesting you used "realistic and "speculation" in the same sentence.

Hey, at least we're pretty much all in vastly better moods than we were a short time ago.

Life is good...or at least it's better than the alternative. We could all be Hawk fans.

I meant realistic from the standpoint of what the abilities of this currently configured team can do, and speculation from the view of what can the kings do to better their situation, e.g. the Trade Thread or Free Agency (if we had cap room)

to "josh" is to kid or exchange banter in a friendly manner. Somewhat akin to teasing but more generic in nature.

:D

Could somebody help me out? I'm just wondering who would we play if we were the eight seed, and we made it past the first round. What seeds would we all have to play until the finals. Same thing if we were the seventh seed.

PS: Sorry this is very badly worded, lol!

eh. To say we have to have all this interior defense and rebounding is hog wash. Dallas is no better on the inside than we are.. Yet they are the best in the West. So with that being said if we somehow play Dallas in the 1st round i saw we beat them. KT and Shareef have done great jobs on the big guys this year. Garnett and Duncan had hard times against us. KT did awesome against Gasol. ppl see points in the paint against us and assume it was all PF and C that were dominating us when in fact it was the perimeter guys driving on us and laying it up or dishing off when Brad or PF switch to stop him. Our perimeter defense is much better with Artest and the Bonzi not having to cover 2 ppl like he did early in the year. Also the progression of K-Mart and Garcia on Defense adds to that on the Bench. Brad has shown me he can do well by himself its just when he has to help on a driving guard that gives him fits. As long as the proper help comes for Bibby or when Bibby decides to step us as he does sometimes we will be fine.
