Yossi Gozlan: Potential buyout candidates with salaries above the $12.8 million mid-level: Malcolm Brogdon Bruce Brown Ben Simmons Bojan Bogdanovic The Celtics, Nuggets, Lakers, Bucks, Wolves, Knicks, and Suns wouldn’t be able to sign these players since they’re above the first apron.

If Ben Simmons does get bought out, we might be an interesting destination for no other reason than that we have no "true" PG (depending on how one wants to classify Malik and Devin) and the kid serving as our primary backup can very easily be pushed to the G-League for the time being. If we were to bring Simmons on, he would immediately step into a 20-25 minute role, and might perhaps start. He'd be surrounded by scoring (assists available!) on a team that needs defensive help.

Kind of a no-brainer fit.

Yep, he just checks so many boxes, length, defense, rebounding, ball-handling, passing.

The only thing is why would Simmons accept a buyout? That could seriously impact his ability to sign a big contract next season. I would imagine his agent and the Nets would like to see if there might be a sign and trade scenario that helps everyone out.

Shams says they are working on potential buyout and he expects Simmons to try and join contender.

He would join team as free agent. Not sure how it would impact future contract. Maybe he's just ready to win.

I think it's pretty smart. He's headed for UFA and he's basically been left for dead by a lot of people. Go link with a contender, go have a monster playoffs and show he's "back" and he heads into the off-season in a much better position than just rotting away in BKN for the rest of the year.

Even if you don’t don’t get him as a buy out I’d imagine he makes sense for us as a Lyles upgrade in the offseason. Plus, he seems like a west coast kid. Don’t see him going to the lakers or Warriors. I would think Sac or the Clippers make sense for him.

Again, at a huge salary, no way. But with a flyer after a buyout, why not? Could help quite a bit.

I’ve always been a sucker for Simmons., even with his antics. I think at one point I advocated a fox for Simmons deal and build around him and Hali lol

You could even make a case for him being a starter and finally injecting size, athleticism, and defense in the lineup
