Bulls love for Brad continues...

Kings113

All-Star
Easily the third or fourth time something like this has come up (With Brad, not Chandler, this is the first of those):

"Brad Miller, Kings: He hasn't been very good in the playoffs, but he might fit better in an Eastern style. Maybe a swap of centers with Tyson Chandler joining Sacramento's more defensive game plan." Chicago Tribune

Let's get it done Petrie.

Brad/Hart for Chandler/Duhon. Solves two of our needs. Bulls were going after Hart last summer, but we swept in and got him. Skiles reportedly liked Hart because of his size and tenacity on defense. Duhon's surgery was nothing much and minor.

Chandler would have plenty of post-compliments, and likely would still be getting 1-2 more bigs with the uncertainity of KT/Potapenko, draft.

This from his stats on nba.com:

Ranks #1 in the NBA in Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(16.2) Ranks #14 in the NBA in Blocks Per 48 Minutes(2.35)

Sure could help us in our areas of significant weakness. Now you can play KT at power forward and still have a shot blocking presense in the middle. You no longer need Brad's passing skills, as it is highly unlikely that the Kings will run a Princeton offense.

You'd really need another backup center, just in case he gets in foul trouble. He did average 3.8 fouls in his 27 regular season minutes, and he also averaged 4.8 fouls in just 17 minutes of playoff action.

In contrast, Brad averaged 3 fouls in 37 minutes of play during the regular season.

Yeah, I'd think we get a new back-up C. Potapenko is not a certainity.

I would do it, but Ty is really inconsistant and soooo foul prone. I went to a bulls wizzards game and all he did was foul people. he has no offense... and he is reall expensive. but i would take his youth and his downsides over brads age, contract and weak inside presence

He's pretty injury prone as well.

considering brad miller's injury track record and penchant for disappearing in the playoffs, i'd still be willing to take the risk. chandler is a lot younger and still has room to grow. its a risk, but a good risk.

for reference's sake -

good risk: trading peja stojakovic for ron artest.
bad risk: hiring john whisenant

indeed

lets make it happen

He's no good: Sampson gives you 22.6 and 4.0 per 48 minutes. :D
Jokes aside he can be a good fit though I think of him as more of a PF - he is too light for C.

That same article says that the Bulls like SAR too. It mentions that Duhon and the numer 16 pick to the Kings for SAR might be a good deal. What does everyone think about that trade?

SAR is probably worth more to us then Brad right now since SAR is a bargain while brad isnt...

Maybe it would be better to get duhan in a package with Chandler

My objective all along has been to get Chandler to pair NEXT TO Brad, so if we could somehow get him and Duhon for SAR/Hart/? I'd be a happy camper.

I'd even consider throwing in Garcia or our pick this year to seal the deal, then try to trade Kenny Thomas for Dan Gadzuric leaving a rotation of:

C: Miller
PF/C: Chandler
SF: Artest
OG/SF: Bonzi
PG: Bibby
PG/OG: Duhon
OG: Martin
PF/C: Gadz

Looks like a pretty solid 8-man rotation to me.

Except that this year, he was consistent and mostly impressive from late January to April. As before that he had 1 or 2 health problems. Didn't do too bad against Shaq in the POs (most of it not showing up in stats).

I would send both Brad, Shareef- even J.Hart- and the 19th pick for Duhon and the 2nd pick. Then I would draft either Tyrus or Aldridge and try to sign one of the FA Centers with the mid-level. Worst case scenario, the rookie will have to start. We won't be any worse than we were at the beginning of last year, and hopefully as the season winds down we can make a run at the playoffs. If not, there is always next year, and your big guy got some experience.

Also frees up some cash to re-sign Bonzi.

Doesnt Chandler have some problems with asthma? I thought thats why his minutes were limited at the beginning of last season and he wasn't producing as they expected him.

Yes he does. And aparenlt the World's worst case of Acid reflux. Combination of the drugs that he had to take would make him drowsy and lethargic (early in the season) so he started taking them really early in the day and never before the games. Side effect of that is that sometimes he will feel really sick (with Acid reflux I think) in the middle of the game. All in all, very inconvinient for him, but nothing that should limit him from playing basketball. Unlike chronic back issues that plagued him in his first 2-3 years which he seemingly overcame.

Interesting thing about Chandler is that he has yet to spend a single off season in Chicago and work on his game. He spends all of his off season at home in California. That would go a long way to explain his lack of progress in skills dev and on offense. Now, if he was based in CA, there'd be no more excuses for him to skip on off season work. Unless of course he's a lost cause for that type of commitment.

I think this could work out very good for both teams if the trade goes down. SAR's passing and shooting is underrated and I believe he could do really good in the system that the coach puts him in.

I've seen a swap for Brad to Chicago for some time now, only I was thinking it would be to move up in the draft to the #2 spot which they own and then take LaMarcus Aldridge(with Duhon in that trade to make the salaries work),but I certainly wouldnt complain if they offered Chandler to us straight up for Brad. I'd just wonder how Tyson would work into our scheme, with all the new pieces/coach and all. It has to be the right fit. Chandler could very well be the second coming of Dennis Rodman, if he stays healthy and doesnt get discouraged, he so damn active cleaning up the glass, we'd be stupid not to take a chance on him.

I would love the trade of Brad and Tyson but i don't think they would give up the 2nd pick unless we give them bonzi or sar or bibby (which the kings won't do). But a few treads back i offered a trade of sar for Andres Nocioni and Chris Duhon, its kinda funny the same kind of trade came up but with the 16 pick instead of the Nocioni.

I say do it in a heartbeat as well, unless El Brado decides to end his matador days and hit the wieght room this summer. It's a tall order, and I think there's a better chance that Vlade finally quits smoking before we see a beefed up Brad, but there's always the hope.

Won't he be working out for the national team this summer?
