BibityBobtyBoom has a long and "distinguished" history of making posts that make little to no sense, which is why my post above may sound somewhat harsh.

oh but it is about how you feel right? I mean since you have so much authority of the kings, since you run this message board and all. Excuse me for having an opinion, ill think of how you will feel about something before i ever have anything else to say.

The point was, your post indicates that the idea to replace ARCO is all about how the building looks or your feelings on the existing building.

Like it or not, ARCO is OLD. It cannot be rehabilitated. It needs more and more costly repairs and is incapable of drawing many large shows/acts anymore. Regardless of how you feel about it, it needs to be replaced. Deal with the facts.

With a new Arena, would they tear Arco down or will they keep it up (Tigers Stadium), convert into a church (Great Western Forum) or have some kind of Retro Night?
Didn't Pearl Jam play there the other night???

And, I believe the Red Hot Chili Peppers play there on Sept. 1st. What kind of church is that?

I like it, but even if you were able to sell them at $100 each to an arena full of people, you'd still only have about 1.7 million dollars. Now I realize that a lot of people who don't attend games would donate, and I also know that the arena is not filled with the same people for every game...it's just an example. Anyway, it's a nice chunk of change, but not compared to the 400 million dollar price tag. You'd need greater volume, a higher price point, and some big donors. But...it's a start, and it would make many of us not feel so helpless.
In Vermont The skiers were so adamant about not having snowboarders around at Mad River Glen that they got together and bought the Ski Area from the company that was about to be financialy forced to allow snowboarding. This sucks because I will never snowboard at the area that I learned to ski at, but it does say something for character. Of couse they had to fork over 10K each to keep their dreams a reality.
