And I thought Voisin was the master of sappy writing... I like Tyreke Evans, I'm hopeful for what he can bring to the Kings, and I'm looking forward to seeing him take the court. But I'm not real impressed with this article. It reads more like a proposal for a screenplay than an article for the front page of the Sacramento Bee. (Note: The title of the article was apparently changed after the early edition was printed...)
New Kings' ascent to the NBA has had its challenges

CHESTER, Pa. – The newest hope of a sagging Kings franchise is a teenage basketball prodigy from decayed urban streets where no one – no matter how gifted – truly escapes unscathed.
At 19, Tyreke Evans is a celebrated, 6-foot-5-inch point guard bound for Arco Arena with a personal narrative both harrowing and uplifting. The player Kings fans hope to see is an NBA version of the shy but powerful athlete who has dominated all previous opponents and soared to the rim at will...

My respect for Tyreke went up a lot after reading that. The "don't snitch movement" is one of the dumbest things that has ever picked up popularity.

Evans has never shared the court with men who share his talent and ability, the struggles he will have to endure to be the player he thinks he can be are going to be entertaining at the very least. It's hard to tell what Evans strengths are because he is seemingly strong in every facet of the game. I hate to do this, but it is going to happen until the second coming of MJ; Lebron flirted with a near triple double in his first NBA game, and I will be looking to compare Tyreke's first game with Lebron's.

I'm not going to compare him to LeBron, because absolutely no one expects Tyreke to be at that level. That would be setting the bar ridiculously high, in my opinion.

^^Co-signed.

The worst thing people can do is make their expectations of this young man so impossibly high that he's doomed to failure.

USNAVY15 is forgetting one thing, BTW. The reason LeBron "flirted" with a triple double in his first NBA game?

...

Anyone?

In case you've forgotten (or didn't know) LeBron James played his very first NBA game in Arco. Da-da-daaaaaaaaaa!

;)

I like what I read. Evans seems "created" and "destined" to be that special basketball player. I hope he reached his full potential in the NBA.
