Breaking point? cousins to be benched?

So now Cousins' agent is enabling Cousins with comments in the media, inferring Cousins was unfairly treated after his idiotic choke hold antics. Don't ya love agents? He gets his money supporting 10-year olds when they pull their antics.

Cousins continued with his 10-year old behavior by not high fiving Westphal as he left the floor against the Bucks. He's not taking responsibility. He's the victim (His agent told him so). Poor, poor Cousins.

If Cousins contines with his disrespecful attitude, the Kings won't have many options. Sure, they can just bench him outright. But then what antics is the 10-year old going to pull in the locker room? He's already pissing his teamates off. Garcia got in his face. He may be a minor benign tumor right now, but does benching him turn him into a full blown cancer? If Kings management thinks that he's going to continue to act like a petulant child in the locker room, they may have no choice other than send him to the D-League. Then the potential cancer can be isolated so it doesn't affect the rest of the team. Good luck Eric Musselman if that happens. But being sent to Siberia may be the best thing that ever happened to the guy. Maybe he finally figures out that the world doesn't revolve around him.

I'm not sure what your agenda is where Cousins is concerned. Your almost gleeful at his deimise. The Kings have a lot at stake with Cousins, and they need to do everything possibe to make sure he turns out the way they need him to. Respect goes both ways. The comments Wesphal at practice referring to his poster on the side of the building were uncalled for in my opinion. Its one thng to discipline a player, and quite another to embarrass him in front of his teammates. I'm not sure where you get the Idea that his teammates are turning on him. At the game between halves and during the warm ups Cisco spent at least 5 or more minutes with his arm around Cousins talking to him. That doesn't look like his teammates turning on him to me.

This isn't about whether he should be disciplined or not. Its about how you do it. Calapari used to scream at Cousins on the floor. Jerk him off the floor and make him sit down and listen. But Cousins continued to respect Calapari. I'm sorry, but this looks more like Westphal trying to show Cousins who's boss. And thats fine! But don't do it publicly. Keep it in the house. This went to simple choke thing that most people had already forgotten about the next day, to a national incident much larger than it should have been. I don't buy Westphal's lame excuse for making it public. The same way he made the being kicked out of practice publc. And he's the one that came down on Hawes for going public.

So now were going to take a player that had worked his way back into the ROY race, and was turning into one of the best players on the team, and send him to the developmental league. Yeah, thats a great move. If Petrie does that, then he's really walking a thin line. Cousins was his choice, and so was Westpahl. I don't think the Maloofs are in the mood for this kind of crap.

;) Come on Asaf. Westphal over the line...;) So now Westphal is the culprit. Now Cousins is the victim. That's rich.

Personally, I don't think Cousins deserves respect. He hasn't earned it. Yelling, at Westphal, yelling at his assistants, yelling at his teamates, disrespecting his opponent, playing like a petulant child doing more frustration fouls in the 4th quarter than some players do in their entire NBA career. You've got to be kidding me. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever that he should be shown respect. As I've said before, if you don't treat others with respect, there's no reason for them to respect you. The only respect he deserves is the respect you show a 10-year old boy who has a lot to learn.

Ok, wel then let me ask you this: What has Westphal done to earn the respect of his players?

Has he been able to help them elevate their performance, or have they all managed to somehow regress under him?
Has he shown consistency in his decisions, or does he yo-yo his players around like they were all a bunch of muppets in his sub-par street show?
Has he been fair in the way he treated them, or does he have one set of standards for certain players, and other standards for other players?
Has he been able to inspire confidence in his players that he can help them become a team?

Seriously, what has Westphal done in his tenure here to earn him respect from the players?
