Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are teaming up together on the Miami Heat, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

ESPN's Shelley Smith also reported the pending move through independent sources.

Whether LeBron James, the kingpin of this summer's celebrated free agent class, will join them remains to be seen. James will announce his decision Thursday night at 9 ET during a one-hour special on ESPN.

Wade and Bosh are expected to announce their decision on Wednesday, according to the source.

More..

We'll see if LeBron follows...

Interesting! :)

It's like the Heat is building like the Kings but with the older more establish versions.

Wade is almost like Evans , but Evans is bigger, stronger, and younger
Bosh maybe close to how Cousins will get attention down low, but cousins is younger, bigger, and plays more defense.

Too optimistic maybe on Evans and Cousins, but the future is bright for the Kings.

Anyway, Heat should improve dramatically with Bosh coming in. Probably better for Toronto if Heat would do a sign and trade with Beasly in the package. At least they get a highly underused former number 2 draft pick for Bosh.

I could not see Lebron following in. But maybe some F.A. like Mike Miller, Felton, Kwame Brown would join in the party in Miami. That is already at above most team in the East.

Yeah if Bosh and Wade go to Miami I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw Mike Miller a lil bit more than he turned down to play in LA. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them sign Shaq as well they need a big man, it'll be interesting to see what goes down.

Yeah, i heard the news that bosh and wade are going to miami. Honestly, it's a good move for both of them, but i still believe they need more people to surround wade and bosh. If they add a sharp shooter in there, it would be as if the BIG three from boston moved to miami. With that being said, Lebron is still out of the mix of the free agency boom. I believe Lebron would be a loser in this offseason if he does go back to cleveland cavaliers. Dont you guys think so too?

I think staying is the best thing for his legacy, he won't be seen as a mercenary and he'll continue to be associated with one team like most of the greats are. And from a cynical standpoint - he'll get paid, he'll continue having ownership set to appease his every whim, if he continues getting bounced early from the playoffs he'll still have the cover of bad teammates, coaches, GM, whatever but if he wins with his "small market hometown team" it is because he is the GOAT and it may not take 6 titles.

The only way Lebron stays in Cleveland is if he doesn't have the balls to be hated in the NBA. This special thing on ESPN is a straight slap in the face to whomever he doesn't choose and he will be instantly public enemy number 1 in Cleveland if he leaves.

From a basketball sense that Cleveland team has gone as far as it will go, they are a team clearly built for the regular season, they also have a terrible cap situation that will make it hard for the team to improve. Bosh/Wade in Miami, Howard in Orl and Bos still has enough gas for one more run with the right adjustments. Lebron isn't gonna get outta the east with that Squad, he needs to go to NY,NJ or Chicago it makes too much basketball sense.

I think the "special" is a pretty clear indication he is staying a Cav.

The smart move for Lebron is to go to Miami. Much better chance of a ring, achieving his legacy thing, and he can make up any lost max salary with the extra promotions and huge media attention he'll get there. Personally I don't like the mercenary-like aspect though, it reminds me of elementary school when all the good kids would pick each other for the team at recess and destroy the leftover kids.

If Lebron moves, at least Boozer would no longer be the most hated NBA player in Cleveland.

Bad move by Bosh... if winning really matters most.

They have Wade + Bosh but thats it. They only have 4 guys on contract and not enough cap space left to build a championship team. If they can't work any type of sign and trade to get something of value for Jermaine O'neal, then they are screwed.

The best chance for Bosh to win was to join the Cavs via sign and trade which supposedly was approved by the Raptors. People are forgetting that the Cavs are still a very good team and had the best record last year. They lost to the Cs but so did Orlando and the lakers had a tough tough time with them. With Bosh, I think the Cavs and Cs (if healthy) will compete for the east crown.

I can't imagine anyone giving up anything of value for Jermaine O'Neal, so that's probably not an option. They'd be better off resigning him. They can also keep guys like Arroyo, Dorell Wright, Haslem, Q-Rich, etc. And they have three draft picks that are not signed yet. It's not like they'll start the season with just 7 players on the roster. They'll fill it out, and if it was the Three Amigos and a bunch of ancillary filler, that's still good enough to get the East crown, assuming good health.

Kareem and Shaq both left their teams to move to better situations and win rings. People remember them more for winning than for moving. Kobe, Duncan and Jordan all stayed on their original teams, but Kobe and Duncan were both drafted onto teams with all-NBA players on board. Jordan got Pippen and Grant before his first contract was up. Those guys stayed because they had no reason to go, not out of loyalty. Nash is a guy who is staying on a team out of loyalty, and pretty much conceding any chance of ever winning a ring. That's not the legacy Lebron wants.

Cavs are in cap hell right now. The entire time Lebron has been in Cleveland the Cavs have tried to win by surrounding him by decent vets with overpriced contracts and never built through the draft. They are farther from being a chamionship team than 3 years ago. If LBJ leaves he'll be remembered for betraying for Cleveland but as soon as he wins a ring in NY/NJ/Chi, everyone outside of Ohio is going to ask what took him so long to leave.

Kareem and Shaq both left their teams to move to better situations and win rings.
They weren't better situations until after they went there: Kareem went from a thirty-eight win team to a thirty win team, and that team was mediocre at best until they managed to get Magic Johnson. And Shaq left a team that had made back-to-back trips to the ECF to go to a team that went out in the first round the previous year. There's no reason to believe that the 1996-97 gd lakers, minus Shaq, would have been any better than the 1996-97 Magic.

That may have been the result but both left for non-basketball reasons. Kareem wanted to be traded to NY or LA, presumably to be in an area with more practicing Muslims. The Lakers were down after Wilt's retirement and although he was a perfect replacement they would not dominate the NBA until Magic (and soon after Worthy) arrived. Shaq walked away from a 60 win team that was one year removed from the NBA finals to join the Lakers who were struggling mightily post-Magic so that he could be in Hollywood and spend the offseason working on his acting and hip hop careers. Had Kobe not turned into Kobe the Lakers likely would have remained a middle of the road playoff team losing out to the Blazers, Kings and Spurs.

Bosh is actually more of a mid-range kind of player. He is far from a brute down low, he'd rather pull up from mid-range or drive by his defender. You could fit 2 Boshs inside one Demarcus Cousins. ;)

And, of course, had Kobe not Elway'd the Hornets, it would have been moot.
I know that he informed anyone that would listen that he would only play for LA or NY but wasn't he selected to consumate the trade? It never came to a stare down, at least that's how I remembered it. Besides that, until Vlade came off LA's books they could not sign Shaq.

If I also recall there was so much fan outcry over the behind the scenes shenanigans with this contract that the NBA knew they had a problem on their hands with backroom free agent deals that they swiftly undid Juwan Howard's deal with the Heat to show teams that they had to play by the rules.

The way I remember it is the Hornets drafted him knewing they'd likely deal him to the Lakers.

So before all this went down the reports were that Bosh had agreed that the Raptors would sign and trade him, obviously they tried with Cleveland and Bosh said hell no, Miami just sent Beasley to Minny so they have nothing to offer Toronto now so I guess Bosh just signs outright for less money? Or will Miami be sending picks Toronto's way because that could really get interesting if they are maxed out with only 3 contracts.

They are all doing this for less money so they can get atleast some reasonable talent to mix in. Mike Miller is going to go there and he isn't gonna come cheap. If they all got maxed out they are not threat to win a title with 9 Smush Parkers running around, Wade and Bosh are too injury prone to play 82 48 min games this is gonna be interesting next year.
