Boris Diaw=overrated

Beezy

G-League
Steve Nash is an expert at making other players he plays with better... Boris Diaw can play but I think he is slightly overrated.

Well, he's definitely not worth that $10 million a year contract he's asking for. It seems like ever since Nene signed that huge 6-year, $60 million contract, many free agents (including Bonzi and now Diaw) have been trying to follow his lead. Not sure that's the smart way to do business.

I do agree somewhat that Diaw's stats are slightly bloated because he plays in an offense that suits his style of game, and which also explains why he was rather pathetic at Atlanta. However, I also believe that he nonetheless made a name for himself as quite a versatile, and frankly, unique all-around versatile player who can play defense and pass the basketball when under his style of game. To me, that's worth around the $7 million a year range. Asking for me is certainly pushing it.

I agree, to some degree.

Yes, he had a breakout year. Do I have to keep hearing about him?

Sure, he's versitile and was underused in ATL. But he's playing with Steve Nash now. Remember? The guy who makes James Jones, Q-Rich, and Raja Bell look like All-Stars?

Yes, he played center while Amare and Kurt Thomas were out. But that was a small ball game that, in the end, lost out to a Dallas team with legit big men when it mattered in the playoffs.

Sorry, he's not a center. I do not want to see him on any more player rankings listed as a center.

Is he a good player? Sure. Would I like him on our team? Without questions. Am I sick of people gushing about him? You bet.

diaw is a sick, sick player... but not for 10 million... then again neither is miller most of the time....

if they trade marion for a useful player and an expiring contract 10 mill doesnt seem all that bad though....

Prior to this season did anyone care about Raja Bell, James Jones, or even your beloved Boris Diaw? I'm sure a lot of people did not even know who they were prior to them putting on the Suns uniform. Boris Diaw did his time in Atlanta and being on a team that did not have anybody really special he didn't make an impact. Look at Diaw's performances prior to him being a Sun. The kid has talent, but he is very over hyped. There's a reason why Steve Nash is the MVP and it's cuz of making people like Boris Diaw recognizable names.

Yes. Bell made his reputation in Utah, not Phoenix. I won't speak on James Jones, but there's been people singing Diaw's praises since he got drafted.

Basically, you seem to be saying that you didn't know that Bell could play until he got to Phoenix, in which case, you'd be the one guilty of failing to properly evaluate his talent. In Diaw's case, Atlanta didn't know what to do with him, so they didn't use him. And Jones... I don't know if anybody really thought that he was all that good in the first place.

Joe Johnson effect?

I dont know, however, he played a bunch of awesome games last years. He played a decent WC. I didnt trust his game, but my mind is going to change.

Anyone who can step on a court and give you a triple-double threat while playing any position on the court, isn't overrated.

However, thats just my opinion.

Diaw is a sick man. I'll take his overrated-ness anyday of the week.

And I don't think the year he had last year was all that surprising. After all the raving about his play in Europe prior to that season, I was expecting him to be valuable for the Suns. And he turned out to be really valuable.

Diaw is a utility guy. He can fill in from the 1-5 spots. Not overrated and Not worth that 10mill/yr. 7-8 mill would be great.

Don't know what his time with Atlanta has to do with anything. His game right now is pretty much what was projected of him. The knock on him was he was too unselfish and not aggressive enough on offense; perimeter game needed work also. He spent his rookie and sophomore years in ATL, and had a breakout third year. His development is in no way disappointing. His impact is being displayed on a contending team, that's not overrated, that's something to be excited about.

There are guys who are clearly benefiting from playing with Nash. Diaw is not one of those guys.

diaw played better when nash was out of the game....

nash didnt help diaw abuse the mavs.... that was all diaw.... and i knew about bell and jones before they were on the suns... ive liked bell when he was on the sixers....
