I don't know about anyone else, but I think I found my "warrior King."

WOW!

Thank you, Geoff Petrie, for bringing him to us and...

Thank you, Bonzi Wells, for having heart, determination, toughness, and a will to play that takes my breath away.

God, I love this team and I love this game!

:D

Bonzi was great tonight and has been great, I love him.

Hart's been fine, just not too much on offense yet. I expect that to improve as time goes on. Tonight, the guy only played 6-7 minutes.

Bonzi is the first player that the Kings have gotten that I hoped they would get. As we all know its usually the guy you've never heard of. When that Memphis incident occured last year I thought to myself, "Get 'er done Geoff".

He has been great, even though he isn't a dead eye shooter, I love his all around game.

He is quickly becoming my favorite King. I like watching players who play hard all the time. I can't even get mad at him when he's not playing well because I KNOW he's giving it 100%. I can't always say that for our "big three". I get so PO'd at them sometimes because I'm pretty sure they're not playing as hard as they can on both ends of the floor at times. Nice to have a player like Bonzi...hopefully his work ethic will rub off.

Hart has been far from fine, he's been stinking up the joint. I hope he can get some confidence in his shot sometime soon. Otherwise he will continue to get very little time and Bibby will be run into the ground.

I'm so glad to see Bonzi in a Kings jersey, he is a great player. IMO I think he could be better than Christie once he gets completely comfortable in the system and the team is in full stride.

I meant fine as in on defense. Which he has been, indeed. Overall, the guy is still adjusting to things on this team. It's not like he's forever lost his offense he had in Charlotte last year, starting or not.

Obviously you meant defense because there is no way anybody could feel his offense has been anything but ugly. His defense is nice, but I was refering to his overall game which hasn't hasn't been fine IMO. It is possible that he may never fit in to the Kings system; you have to be able to shoot somewhat and he hasn't shown he can even shoot a little.

Not so fast....for Bonzi to get onto this team we had to givr away two of the greatest warriors in Kings history. First Christie left to open the spot then the BJax trade.

While I like the play of this guy so far and his attitude on the court has been surprisingly great, I am not ready to hail the name of Petrie for his offseason work to bring in the players that he is. Sorry, kill-joy alert, but your post slightly twinged a nerve in me, especially considering the players he is replacing.

Do you want Christie back? I don't even if he doesn't retire, he is washed up. I miss Bobby, but then again I missed Bobby when he was still on the team since he was hurt as much as anyone in the NBA. It feels good to move on and let go of those Kings of the past. Personally I think that a terrific player like Bonzi, who is in his prime, is worth Bobby and Christie at this point.

What's done is done. Plus, I'd rather have Bonzi working as hard as he is than have DC visiting doctors in Seattle and talking retirement. I didn't like to see those players go either, but let's all take the plunge and embrace what we have. I think you know it could be A LOT worse.

Um, yes.

Well, he can hit the mid-range shot pretty well. Not that great on threes though. I doubt Petrie would of got him had he not been able to shoot, which he can and has shown. Just not too much with the Kings yet though through these 12 games. ;)

Reality check...

Doug Christie played virtually nil minutes last year and may never step on the court again, so crying over losing him is just silly. Yes I will forever appreciate what Doug brought to our team and what he gave, but as an asset it was a stroke of genius for Petrie to get rid of him when he did.

As far as Bobby goes, had he not been injured he would have begged the Kings to let him opt out of his contract us anyway. He had said so repeatedly. The fact the Kings picked up his option when he was unable to play at the time was a pretty significant statement of support by the Kings.

What Petrie did in bringing Bonzi to the team is sure looking good right now. Have you looked at Bobby's line for the Grizzlies this year? Here's his line from last night:

He played 14 minutes. He went 0 of 7 from the field and 2 of 2 from the stripe. He had one rebound, no assists, 2PF, 1 steal, no blocks and 2 turnovers.

Don't get me wrong or even attempt to say I didn't appreciate Bobby while he was here. I did and I was sad to see him leave. BUT the name on the front is more important than the name on the back and right now the name on the back that's really impressing me is Wells. He's giving his all - and he's really honoring the commitment he made when he first got off the plane.

I stand by my comments. I am very glad that Petrie was able to see beyond the problems and bring Bonzi to us because I think he was worth taking the chance for.

So, sorry. You're not killing my buzz over the trade, quite simply because it's not ABOUT the trade. It's about the here and now. And, here and now, all things considered, Petrie did what was best for the team and it's paying pretty significant dividends.

Bonzi Wells is like genetically engineering Doug Christie and Bobby Jackson into one man. He is tough and articulate. Although I like and appreciate all of the other Kings, Bonzi is now my favorite player. My guys (based solely on personal bias, not ability) have been Lawrence Funderburke, Jon Barry, Vlade Divac, and Bobby Jackson. Now Bonzi Wells is included in this elite company, at least for me. Signed, Stupid Fan.

The man is a warrior, he's talented, he's competitive, and he's tough. Add that to the fact that he's over 6' (the only other player we've had that inarguably fits that description is the 5'11" Bobby Jackson), and I think that we've found the player we've been hoping for since 2000. Too bad he came to us a year or two too late.

Actualy he really can't shoot. Never has before at least. Just barely enough to keep teams honest. His game was always iso post.

I think Bonzi really represents an interesting subset of Petrei favorite players -- power guards. Bonzi is the third attempt at it -- with Nick Anderson and Jim Jackson being the earlier incarnations, and of course Mitch during Geoff's early days in Sacto. Seem an odd fit really, but we keep going back to it and given the softness of the front line ists absolutely critical right now. If we had a skinny softy shooter type over there at OG right now we'd be getting axe murdered inside.

He isn't Mitch Richmond, but you sure get some of that warm and fuzzy feeling when bonzi repeatedly crashes into the paint and makes something happen.

I apparently haven't been watching the same games as you because I think he has been awful from mid-range. His shot looks ugly and flat, it doesn't even look like it has a chance to go in. Where have you seen him prove that he can shoot? I don't think he has ever shown an ability to shoot, but hopefully he can become as good as you already think he is and give him credit for.;)
