Bonzi for trade exception..

With Harrington's deal stalling do you think Pacers would trade their exception, about 7 mil I think, in a sign and trade for Bonzi? Would it be worth it?

Unless there's something else coming in with the deal like draft picks, that trade exception would be pretty worthless. The Kings couldn't combine it with other players to make a bigger trade, so you're basically looking at trying to trade it for a player who makes $7.5 million or less. Since we're already near the luxury tax that's probably not going to happen.

It's only a hair better than letting him walk.

Trade exceptions are good for a year beyond their acquisition, I believe. I don't think that it would be used by the Kings this year because of the above stated luxury tax implications. However, with the expiring contracts a trade exception could be a valuable asset next offseason. In theory, the Kings would be over the cap but well under the tax threshold and in a position to utilize such an exception.

That's true, hadn't thought of that. They'd have to move quick though and use it early in the offseason.

At this rate, they'd have more than a month to use it. Not a lot of time, but enough to figure something out.

Actually, I think it expires a year from when it was first created, so it would be a year from the day Peja signs. I could be wrong on that though.

Trading Bonzi would create a 'new' exception, I believe. The Pacers trading their exception would finalize the Peja trade thus giving the Kings a trade exception that would expire a year from any Bonzi trade.

At least that is how I read/understand the exception rules...

Sure... trading Bonzi for almost anyting is preferable to just letting him walk. But I don't see any takers.

Nah, not degrated. Since Foster would be the main piece because of what we need in the front-court - interior defense. Foster's not a shotblocker, but brings everything else.

Could of just been Foster anyways with the Foster/Sarunas deal, possible that Sarunas goes back to Europe.
