Bobcats Acquire Kareem Rush In Trade With Lakers

Charlotte has acquired guard Kareem Rush in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Bobcats will send two second round draft picks to the Lakers – the pick Charlotte received from Atlanta on August 16 and Charlotte’s own 2008 second round selection. “We are excited about Kareem joining our team and bringing his multiple talents to the Bobcats,” Bickerstaff said. “He has great size and athleticism, he can shoot the ball well with range and because of his length he can play more than one position.”

Rush, a 6-6, 215-pounder who is in his third NBA season, was the 20th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft by Toronto and traded that night to the Lakers. In his first two seasons, he averaged 4.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 148 games and in 14 games this season he averaged 0.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.5 minutes.

During the 2003-04 season he recorded career highs in points (30), field goals made (13) and field goal attempts (22) at Sacramento on Jan. 16 and reached double-figure scoring 18 times.

He appeared in 31 postseason games with the Lakers and averaged 3.6 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 12.2 minutes. Rush played in all 22 playoff contests in the team’s run to the NBA Finals last season and averaged 3.7 points in 14.3 minutes. He registered a playoff career-high 18 points on 6-7 three-point shooting on May 31 vs. Minnesota.

Kareem Rush for two second-round picks?

Couldn't we have offered something better than that?

I like this deal for the Cats

since jumaine jones and caron butler as well as tierre brown who plays abit of the 2 and of course kobe, would play infront of rush, i think its good for rush's sake he was traded... gets to prove him self like g-wall did...

I was wondering why he'd be traded for just picks, but in looking at his overall averages vs. what he did against the Kings, I supposed my impression was skewed...

Clears up a roster spot for Malone. The picks are also high and non-guaranteed, thus can be used to sweeten deals, which Mitch will screw up.

Why do You think that a player who can not even play for LA could play for the Kings ?

BTW he did have a career high against the Kings - but just check out the final score of the blowout.

Still hoping Malone will come back to the Lakers... starting to sound like the boy at the end of the movie Shane..."Come back Karl, come back..."

I really like that deal for the Bobcats. I've always liked Kareem for some reason.

Him and G-Wal can have a nifty little Gerald slashes in, kicks out to K-Rush for a three, type of game.

Bobbitt's back as expected, Malone will be back sometime in January...will Brown be cut to make way for a point guard too?

Rush desperately needs a weak side to be as effective as possible on offense, especially to clear room for his forward-jabfake-reversepivot-fadeaway-left hander. Hopefully, the Cats are able to make that possible for him.

Your knowladge of cultural refrences and keen sense of humor make you with out a doubt the MOST fun poster to poke with a stick... This IS a compliment!
Sorry, but I can't quite live up to that compliment. Shane is a bit before my time. I do remember it being referenced in GoodFellas though (the cardtable scene with Spider). At any rate, I didn't have my poker unsheathed when I made that Malone statement so I wonder if we're having a spat.
