There were at least three times in the game where DFC acted as an enforcer and I applaud that. He got away with a dirty shot to Paul's ribs after a no call on a foul on Jimmer. After Jimmer was fouled DFC said something to the guy who fouled Jimmer. I thought, the way Paul reacted, that his whole chest was caved in but the remarkable athlete he was, Paul soldiered on. (That's called sarcasm) That was number 1. There was another time when someone was jawing at IT and DFC merely stepped between them. Then there was the final one that ended in a tech. With the kind of game DFC had and his defense of the little guys, I am all for it all. DFC just may emerge as the team leader.
Some will scoff at my suggestion that he will become team leader but DFC already takes responsibility for this bad season. I think that is being awfully hard on himself but that's the way he sees it. Watch the extended BR interview. He wants to be the team leader and he wants to lead this team out of the doldrums. Unlike a lot of people, he wants to be here and never has said anything different despite the distortion of his yelling match with Westy.
I think he learned something last night. Now he needs a rabid crowd night in and night out. The crowd is part of the equation and gives us a tremendous home court advantage. The energy of the crowd lit a fire that to me was the perfect amount of aggression without violence - well, mostly.

That's what a mature superstar LEADER DFC would look like. Right on the edge of losing it. Pumped up but in a good way. There's a delicate balance with DFC and he walked the tightrope to a great game.
If people think DFC defending IT and sending a message ruined a 36 point, 22 rbd game, you don't know professional basketball. He is earning respect. He is earning respect as a player and as a team mate. The people who see it differently missed a good game or maybe simply are too young and haven't seen enough basketball.
