He's been in a lose/lose sitiuation at times. When he takes over a game ( I'm speaking of college ) he gets accused of being selfish by the critics. When he tries to set up teammates and show that he's not selfish, he gets accused of being nonaggresive and passive. There's no doubt that scorring has never been a problem for him, but I do think, that unlike Douby, he does have point guard skills. He just needs to work and improve them. He's still very young.

Agree with you wholeheartedly. I think that Bayless is also physically stronger than either Douby or even Gordon. He will be able to finish inside much better.

And yes (from the erased first part of your post), at this point let's start stacking out team with talent and then Petrie can make some moves to make the pieces acually fit together. Champ teams can be built in any number of ways. Saying anything along the lines of "We already have X so we need a PG that does Y" at this point is premature.

Gerald Wallace is sent to the hospital with a broken rib and punctured lung, courtesy of Trevor Ariza's teammate AND Ariza is out indefinitely because of a concussion.

I'm getting that kind of chill you get when you're watching a scary movie and the music gets louder and more ominous.

VF and NBA, yeah, I wasn't thinking this soon. But skinney, athletic players who like to go full throttle into the lane have a bad track record. Ariza may help the Lakers win it all this year, but I would be concerned that whatever team signs him to a 5-6 year deal (at probably 6-8 per/year) will wind up regretting it.

Why Deals Take So Long: The Portland Trail Blazers may not classify themselves as sellers, but sources around the league say they have been talking a lot lately trying to extract a nice veteran player for the ending contract of Raef LaFrentz. The Blazers could trigger a deal with Sacramento if the Kings come off their demands for Jerryd Bayless, such a deal would bring John Salmons to Portland, but would have to send someone of value to the Kings, who want Bayless. Portland GM Kevin Pritchard explained that his team is not as eager to make a deal as most are characterizing his team to be, but they are looking and talking.

"Doing a deal during the season, there are risks where the fits aren't good," Kevin Pritchard told HOOPSWORLD's Wendell Maxey.

"If you get a guy during the summer, he has the whole training camp, the summer and he has to get comfortable. So there is a certain element of risk in doing things during the season. You do a lot of your work to allow your coach to have as much success as he possibly can."

"I think there is a lot of feeling out. We are always communicating with each other because our business is very fluid," Pritchard explained.

"Things change throughout the course of the season: a trade with another team, a change in the lineup. There are always things that are changing and it is up to us to investigate and see if we can help each other."

"We like our team. We are always going to look at make it better. But we have a young team that is growing together and figuring things out and getting better," Pritchard added.

"You have to let it bake a little bit."

Well, lets hope that they think this deal would really help them, all they need to do is part with Bayless. I think they can do it

I love the Bayless - Salmons deal, but why would Portland do it? Do they want a vet who can get them better now, as opposed to later? What does Salmons do that all their other guards can't?

Are you talking about Jason Kidd? I must have missed that rumor, either way if I were Portland I wouldn't have done that trade either.

Salmons makes more sense at this point. I'm not saying they do the Salmons trade because they most likely won't, but why would they trade for Kidd who only has a couple years left in him while the rest of the roster are extremely young (3 of their starting 5 are rookies)? At least Salmons is relatively young. And he also plays a position where they can use help with

When was that trade proposed and who was involved? I ask because there's a tiny bit of disparity between their contracts, which suggests to me that the deal breaker had more to do with taking on a huge contract, than the equality of talent.
