Blazers/Suns...Amare returns

Kings113

All-Star
Amare started, and looked fine, didn't show any of his explosiveness as expected. But had his jumper going and got a few lay-ups, some boards. 11 pts, 5 boards at half.

Score is 76-63 at the half, Suns - wow. But what is also amazing is the Suns allowed 63 points to the Blazers, who average 88.5.

Interesting numbers they showed during the game, without Kurt Thomas, 13 gms: 107 (.7 I think) PPG allowed, 48 FG percent. With, 50+ games: 100.2, 44 FG percent.

All that in 19 minutes.

Im amazed...What a comeback!

Remember C-Webb's comeback last time, though.

Very similar big-type game...Lets see if he can keep it up.

Whoa! That is some debut. Putting up those #'s in just over 19 min, after not playing the entire season......WOW....just WOW!!

Sounds as though D'Antoni is prepared for a let down as Amare works himself back into game shape.

"Amare [Stoudemire] looked good and so did Shawn and Boris.

To be honest, Amare’s performance was night and day compared to yesterday’s practice. I was a little worried because I didn’t see a lot of his explosiveness from him in practice but he wasn’t playing with the first team and he didn’t have much of the adrenaline in him either. But he looked pretty good tonight. He will get his explosiveness back.

The big test is when he wakes up tomorrow morning and the next couple of days and he still has some dog days a head of him. It was really good start. He had a good rhythm with the rest of the team."

I was at the game. The numbers are a little deceiving playing a lifeless Portland team at home. His elevation isn't anywhere close to last year. He moved alright, but I just hope he gets that spring back next year.

On one play he stood out by the elbow closely defended one on one. Last year he would have torched the guy for a dunk but instead he faked a drive and made a tough jumper with a hand in his face. I don't ever remember seeing Amare do that. It reminded me of Webber starting to make those decisions after the knee surgery. Just hope to see him get that strength and confidnence back and he doesn't start turning to the jump shot more. His game around the hoop was unbelievable

How many minutes, Kings113? I know I could look it up but I'm hoping you have it handy...

I like Amare...a lot. I just have this horrible sinking feeling the Suns are going to over-utilize him too soon. We, more than others, know how badly that can backfire...
