When I read half of this title I almost freaked out. I thought you were going to say how Portland got the 2nd pick…Anyway, I’m surprised that the Mavs gave away a good spot just to move down to a place where they will probably dump the rookie. I would think at this time, the Mavs need to grab some young guys.

You are misunderstanding - I don't think it's bad value at all. My point is more along the lines of "why bother?" if you don't even know who's going to be there. That deal likely exists tomorrow too and they'd actually know that the player(s) they are targeting is there.

What if someone unexpectedly dropped, and they took this offer off the table? its a 56th pick to move up 2 spots from 24 to 22. You take that every day and twice on Sundays. You take it when its available. Were you holding onto that 56th pick expecting to find the next KG?

I think you guys are overthinking this. Portland has, or had 4 second round draft picks. Its no secret that they were trying to find a way to unload some of them. Especially the one's in the second half of the second round.. So if someone comes up and offers you a chance to move up two spots in the draft for a pick you don't really want. Why not? Its not rocket science. I don't think its because they have an agenda. If the offer had been four spots, they would have take it too.

Have you ever considered that it might be a twofer?
