BTW we just got this coaching staff and havent changed the roster much at all so you can blame management for our awful team defense.

You can blame 'em both.

Adelman was right about not being able to get much D out of the players he had, not that we liked hearing it at the time. And the FO hasn't fixed anything since.

But I am pretty tired of slogans like "Nobody will get PT unless they play hard defense," followed by D getting even worse.

Theus and Muss the same? ugh..

I won't even..... nm.

BTW we have a chance at the POs next year if we get Beasley, or Rose. ;) That's a 0.6% chance, so BLAH! :D

As if they have a freaking choice at this point? Look at all the injuries, were playing our young players right now so i dont know what it is your looking for at this point. Getting guys like Garcia, Shelden, Artest (of course) Salmons and even douby is moving in the right direction in terms of defense but now the next step is to get that Power forward that we need which is much easier said than done.

I know we dont have a shot at the number one pick but just for hope...what were portlands chances last year in terms of percentage?

they had 1 more loss than us last year so at this rate we should have 1 more loss than them this year. KINGS FANS NEED TO WISH! :p

OMG i forgot about that!

That damn clippers win last season was the worst ever. Not only did we Screw our chances to nab durant and oden, but we let the warriors into the playoffs as well.

Unless you're talking to piksi, I believe that would qualify as a straw man argument.

Just the same, here, enjoy.

All that proves is no matter how hard our guys try they can't play defense.

They played it a couple of years ago, with the only major roster change between '06 and '07 being Bonzi -> Kevin. Now, Kevin may not be close to the defender that Bonzi was, but I'm not about to give him credit for collapsing team defense single handedly.

Another pointless woss.

Pointless? A game in which you see Hawes quickly getting more comfortable and better and Garcia coming into his own as the future leader of this team and Salmons shutting down an All-Star. I know you want a higher draft pick and all but serioulsy how much higher could we ge right now? like 1 spot? At least 3/5 of the future was on the court tonight maybe more. Lets not worry about the player we might get that we don't know who it is yet and lets focus on the good points of the last few games with our future on the court.

Yet we have won more games and had an improved record for the first time since 2001. So, the stats are pretty much the same as last year, but the record is better.. So if all the players played the same I would attribute the record increase to the coaching.. Putting the right players in at the right time.

GO THEUS!

The best we could do was 11th, and we still have a chance at that pick if we lose the last 3 (all against western elite so it's not out of the question), and the Pacers win 2 of their final 3. That would = a tie, and a coin flip for #11..

Also, what does it matter anyway? You follow the draft like I do REAL close, and we both know that there isn't going to be much difference in 8-14 anyway so what's the big deal? Speights, Greene, McGee, and Arthur will all be available. 99.9% sure of that ;) I am really starting to like Greene since he has declared.. A legit 6'10-6'11 with hops, and a perimeter game to go along with it. Decent passer, and on the ball defender. Lacks the rebounding but has a lot to do with position.

Yeah, before we had a very good chance of tying for 11th, and a small chance of getting 11th uncontested. Now we have a small chance of tying for 11th, but only if we lose all of our remaining games. We are pretty likely to do just that, but since they include a Lakers game, it's no longer such a tasteful proposition.

No chance of 10th. Small chance of dropping to 13th.

It was unfortunate that we won, but I've been wanting the kids to get more time. And if that means they mess up our draft position slightly, well... that's the breaks, I guess.

Hopefully Indiana will pick someone we totally didn't need anyway.

Better coaching is a distinct possibility, as is improved offense, I haven't really analyzed those figures lately.

Overall, he's a better coach, no doubt about it. With Muss, the glass was nearly empty. Now it's half full, which is not bad at all for a noob NBA coach. He just needs to realize that it's rebuild time, and that the D issue is not going to go away on its own.

I dont know the guy but im pretty sure he knows that. It is now up to management to improve that area.

It isn't just about possibly moving up, it's about possibly moving down. There's no point in getting an even worse draft position regardless of how minor the difference you think there is.

Oh, nah... No way we move down unless GS(or denver), or POR gets the top 3.. The chances of Portland getting #2 is about the same as us getting #11.. but there is always a chance! The good thing about the whole #11/#12 thing is that Indiana is still in the hunt. So they should win he games or at least try hard to.

Not so, although it's unlikely, Portland is still capable of trading places with us, leaving us in 13th.

Portland has 2 wins more than we do. Each team has 3 more games. Two of Portland's games are probable losses (Dallas and Phoenix), while the third they may win (Memphis). But if they were to lose to Memphis, and we were to win any 2 of our remaining 3, then it would be coin flip time. I'd say there's almost no chance that we'll win all 3 of our remaining games, but if we did, we could end up in sole possession of 13th.

So don't rule out the value of a lin or two just yet.

I mean mean us moving ahead of Portland in the regular season standings. I'm not talking about the lottery.

I keep hearing how great Portland is destined to be and how we are destined for mediocrity at best. Yet, we keep kicking these guys in the arse. I mean, they were barely even competitive against us last night. We beat them 3 out of 4 this year and all 3 wins were by double digits.

Yeah, I know, I will hear it - "just wait a few years." And, I will be happy to wait a few years and still see the Kings own these guys. It's not like our vets have been beating-up on their poor young future superstars. It was pretty much our young guys beating-up on their young squad. Yes, they will get Oden and maybe, barring injuries, he will live-up to all the hype. However, we have our own young 7 foot center that does not look too shabby. Furthermore, while PortLand will be emptying their wallets just to try and keep what they have, we will have a ton of money coming off the books in the few years as Brad, SAR and K-9 leave. That will position us to go get a proven talent to add to our roster.

So go ahead Portland band wagoners, keep cheering on lottery day and draft day (those are the days of the biggest cheers for you - not the season). Keep dreaming of the future and how great you will be. But realize, at some point, you actually have to start winning games and maybe even make the playoffs one day.

GO KINGS!
