Bill Bradley:

bajaden

Hall of Famer
I don't know what the rules are concerning opinions on journalists, so If I'm a bit too strong, just delete me.

Bill Bradley in my opinion is nothing more than a cheap shot artist. A drive by journalist who takes his shot and runs for cover. There's never any substance to his reports. No facts to back up anything. I realize that he's the Bee's sports editor, and he can editorlize any which way he wants. But to me, he's just a shill for the agenda of the Bee.

Nothing unusual I suspose. Today, most journalists are nothing more than mouthpieces for the political agenda of ownership. To hell with the truth and honesty. The end justifies the means...

ugh... they should be more specific with the freedom of speech privilege.. cause just about any one can say some nonesense and some one out there will tend to agree

if i wrote an article with out any scientific proof but sounds scientific that the earth was flat... someone some where in the world a guy would believe me

whats with the reaction btw? bout this bradley guy i dont live in sacto so i wouldnt know

I mostly agree with you but his piece today was right on. Finally someone in the print media(or any local media for that matter) has the cahones to blame Petrie for the majority of this mess. The guy has gotten a free ride and has basically been given a pass by everyone because of things he did 10 years ago.

You miss my point. I don't have a problem with anyone being critical. All I ask is that you present some facts. He was critical of Petrie's recent draft picks, without naming who they were. Hawes? Thompson? or perhaps Douby? He was simply throwing mud on the wall and hoping some of it would stick. He's making general statements, hoping that someone, like yourself, will pick out a part that they like. He blames all the bad coaching decisions on Petire, sort of, and then at the end throws out a carrot, saying that the Maloff's may have had a hand in those decisions.

Well, which is it? If you don't know, then don't blame anyone until you do know. If you want to speculate, then say thats what your doing. Its just bad journalism in my opinon and shows how far the quality of the sports section has fallen. They gotten rid of their two best writers in Kriedler and Cooper. Who's next?

I second this. Petrie should have been fired along with Theus.

Petire may not be around much longer since he's he the last year of his contract. BTW, does anybody know how much he makes annually? I heard rumor it's in the range of $6 million.

As far as Theus, I thought he should have been given opportunity to coach out the rest of the season, then been evaluated as far as picking up final option year.

I get tempered somewhat about GP considering how the owners look like they tied his hands to some degree in the coaching decisions of the past 3 years and forced his hand with the seven new players (5 with expiring contracts) in the big trade scenario. The trades were dictated by the new economic problems. The coaches carousel of the past 3 years appeared more the Maloofs effort than Petrie's.

If the owners are now going into a more hands off mode, with some strong inputs I'm sure, and stick by that without micromanaging, then let's see what happens this summer and for training camp before we push Geoff out on the plank.

The Maloofs have said Petrie is here as long as he wants. They offered him an extension and he said to wait.

Since Bill Bradley likes polls so much make this a poll if he should remain as the bee's sports editor.

I vote no.

While I'm not impressed most times with what Bill Bradley has to say, his little jabs in the morning paper accomplish their objectives. He gives his opinion and then people talk about it...

He's not a reporter; he's not pretending that everything he says is a fact. He's placing his opinion out there, much like a columnist of Voisin's ilk would do, and letting the chips fall where they may. His little columns are identified as "opinion" if you take a magnifying glass to the fine print. My main problem with his stuff is it's just not that good.

Quite frankly, I think Bradley is a day late and more than a dollar short on a lot of his stuff. Bricklayer and some of the other people around here present much more cogent opinions and they usually have started talking about things such as what Bradley attempted today long before the Bee finally figures out that it's a valid topic of discussion.

Pretty much the Bee has been releasing their writing talent because they just don't have the revenue to keep them. So they fill in with stuff like this and hope you continue to buy their product. So what advantage does a print media have if they don't really have an advantage of insightful and worth reading material? I guess none.

Then I regret bringing it up. His columns don't warrant being talked about. He's not unique unfortunately. To many reporters use the same technic. Just make a controversial statement to get a rise out of people. If thats the best you can do, why bother. And yes, I agree. you'll get more information and insight on this fourm than you will for the most part in the Bee.
