Bibby To Miami......AGAIN

J-WILL55

It's down on the page.

Anyhow, this is the third time this rumor has been circulated, and obviously, if true, then Miami still has interest in Bibby. Udrih has been a nice addition, and bringing in an expiring contract in J-Will, would be great. Don't get me wrong, I would like Jason to stay and retire as a King(Haha I know), but the flexibility we'd have after dumping Bibby would be nice. DO IT PETRIE!

My own idea:

J-Will, Udonis Haslem

for

Bibby and Thomas, or Bibby and SAR

hmmm...

bibby and artest for jwill and davis?

or

bibby and thomas/reef(either one) for jwill and haslem?

which one is better? i cant stand thomas but the idea of getting rid of bibby and artest in one deal for expiring contracts seems like too much to pass on.... salmons did play really well while artest was out... so did garcia, kinda...

You're talking crazy...giving up potentially our two best trading chips for pure expirings is idiotic. Petrie isn't stupid. The Heat IMO will have a hard enough time getting Bibby, let alone Artest...getting both with their lack of draft picks and young players is absolutely impossible.

Even though I really want us to move Bibby and Artest as soon as possible, we don't have to trade them unless other than to help us totally tank. Artest would probably be a better idea for Miami since the teams that are willing to take on his baggage are probably few and far between. Bibby there may be more teams that need him by the deadline so it might be better to wait. If we move either one of them to Miami then we'd have to at least dump off Thomas/Moore/SAR on them; if we can do that then should be willing to take less in return. The point to any trades we make should be to get cap space for the 09 free agent class and therefore we should not take Haslem back under any circumstances. So Bibby and SAR for Williams, Davis, and a 1st round pick would be good but I don't know if Miami would do that, probably if they're still in bad shape by January. I would like for Artest to net more than Bibby could, but who is willing to take him? NY and Miami are the only ones we know for certain are willing to take him, there is an outside chance LA would be (but if they were why hasn't a deal gotten done yet?).

Anyways, basically our goals this year should be trying to dump Miller, KT, and SAR for shorter contracts and if it takes giving up Bibby or Artest to make that happen then so be it.

Dump Miller? Big contract, sure. But at least he plays and scores. If we could just "disappear" B52, who would play center? SAR? Justin Williams? Not really an upgrade... maybe if the Kings could land a FA with the savings...

it should be bibby for jwill, davis 1st rnd pick or jwill, wright, davis..

we're giving one of the best trading chips for 2 expirings and a 1st or 2 expirings and a kid. btw, wright is 6'10.5 and oozing athleticism.

theres no way we're giving up both artest AND bibby for enders in one trade.

thats why its called a rebuild. you want to suck so you get a higher pick.

thank you!
If we're not getting picks or young prospects for these two.. I'm not interested.

Nothing about my post would suggest I was aiming for an immediate talent upgrade but rather aiming at gaining cap space. Who would play center? Who cares? Some scrub for all I care, it's about the future. That's what matters most because that's the only way we get back into contention and that's where I want this team to be.

Wow, looks like MN has TWO lottery picks this year. And that takes Miami out of the race for Bibby IMO.

Worse yet, you can't trade away consecutive future 1st rounders, so Miami couldn't even give up their pick NEXT year.

As an aside, Minnesota, for all their dumbness, and the mysterious behavior toward Gerlad Green, have piled up so much insto cap room and picks that they are on a fast track to a rebuild. Their remaining problem is the remnants of all those awful MLE type contracts they were collecting there for years.

This is exciting

Well my excitement has lessoned now that you say we cannot get a 1st round pick out of the deal. I was hoping we could at least get one in the next few years. But anyway, check this out...

We trade artest and bibby for williams, davis, cook, and wright. 2 expiring and 2 kids.

that means that we are free'd up like 18 mil for this summer. And Okafor denied his ext in CHA. What would you guys think about throwing a 5 year 65 mil deal at Okafor? I think that is better than what he got at CHA and it gives us something we have never had: a defensive presence down low. If Hawes is supposed to be this great low post scorer, than the two of them can contribute together (I would hop we could trade brad for expiring and a pick also).

This is what the line up would look like next year if we keep loosing and get a top 5 pick this year.

PG Derrick Rose (hell ya, we need to loose and nab this dude)
SG Martin (I have been skeptical of him, but now he is the man)
SF Salmons/Garcia
PF Okafor
C Miller/Hawes (hopfully we dump miller)

I really like the future of that squad. It is so athletic and defensive minded. It would be the opposite of what we were. wat yall think?

i'd like petrie to show some financial restraint this upcoming summer. he's been handing out MLE contracts like cotton candy at the state fair for the past 3 yrs. we really need to get some salary cap flexibility, young studs and gut our roster of all these bad contracts (SAR, KT, Mikki Moore, Miller) that right there is about 30 million in contracts for our pathetic front court. this is not including our other 3 young frontcourt players, hawes, jwill and watkins. if we add okafor to the mix some of those players need to be moved otherwise there will be some grumpy players.

are there any teams out there that need some bigs? :)
