Bibby Bounce to the Kings?

Think there's any chance that an unhappy Bibby buys his way out of his contract (serving as Wall's backup) and returns to Sacramento for a hometown discount?

He would be a point guard able to run the team, a veteran presence, and a legitimate perimeter threat. Could even be a nice marketing asset.

I don't pretend to know how badly he's gone downhill since the glory days, or what would be involved for Team Dime to be kept outside the city limits as part of the contract negotiations... :) What do you more knowledgeable types think?

Doubtful. He will sign with a contender to chase a ring. He has slipped a lot, but could still be a good, veteran presense for this team if he wanted to come back. His 3 point shooting and bball IQ would help immensely, although defensively, he would make Beno look like Bruce Bowen.

Yeah. Look for him to take an Eddie House-type role with a contender

To take a big financial hit by (1) agreeing to a buyout, if one could even be arranged, and (2) another financial hit by taking less money to play here than he would elsewhere, would require a LOT of devotion to Sactown.

Let's assume you're Mike and are desperately in love with Sac. Would you start the process of trying to negotiate away millions of income remaining on your contract, when the Maloofs are asking for extra time to file the papers to move away?

Would you return to be with old friends? By now, only Cisco, Geoff and the Maloofs are still associated with the franchise, and Geoff and the Maloofs traded you away in a salary dump, which doesn't usually enhance personal relationships.

I just can't see any reason why he'd resort to such extreme measures to rejoin Cisco (in Anaheim?) at a cost of half or more of his pay.

If he were to come back wouldnt be cuz of Cisco or Geoff or the Maloofs... its about the fans who had him a fan favorite for so long ;p he had his glory days with the Kings and would certainly be recognized again as a great person to have around a young locker room... well thats just me wishing the best for old bibby .. I still miss him!

Absolutely no. He wants to and needs to just go to a contender and try to win a championship, he only has three to four years left in him probably before he's going to call it quits so he has no purpose here. Like I said, either draft a PG in this draft or sign one in the summer and/or trade for one. There are many better options than this.

Well, Washington just "bought out" Bibby's remaining contract for $0. He must've been pretty adamant.

I'm thinking Eddie House has him sold on Miami.

Actually I think your being very generous with 3 or 4 years left. I'd be more inclined to say 1 or 2 years left. He's 32 years old, but he's played in 940 games and is dangerously close to that 1000 game mark that few players ever reach. And for the most part, those that do are mere shells of what they used to be. There are exceptions of course. Like Steve Nash and John Stockton. And in general its usually little point guards that are the exception. But I wouldn't bet a 3 or 4 year contract on Bibby being one of those exceptions.

Yeah, where ever he lands he wont be a starter and basically will play back up mins or be utilised as a spark off the bench.

The heat already cleared waivers on Carlos Arroyo to make room for Bibby... and I feel happy for him, he'll have a great shot at a ring he diserves... He can easily start over Chalmers...
