Best Play/Moment in recent memory!!

I similar recent thread made me think of this, so figured I'd start a new topic

I try to make it to a couple of regular season games and at least one Playoff game each year. As far as Playoff games go, recently, I was at a double OT game against Dallas a couple years back, and Game 6 against Minnesota last year.

This memory comes from Game 6 against Minnesota. I don't remember what led up to it, but Minnesota committed a foul. It was one of those fouls where the opposing team gets to select the free throw shooter, and Minnesota had to remind the refs of this. But before the reminder came in, Peja stepped to the line and hit one of two free throws. The refs realized the mistake, took the point off the board and in comes Jabari Smith.

The crowd goes insane. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it. People were yelling and screaming and yelling his name. Just incredible.

Jabari steps to the line and hits the first one.

Arco gets even more loud. Barely even quiets down when he steps to the line to shoot the second shot.

He hit the second free throw.

I thought the ceiling was going to cave in, people were screaming and yelling, all for Jabari. And we came out ahead, remember, Peja only hit one, Jabari hit two.

I remember a quote in the Sacramento Bee the next day from Jabari, saying how loud it was and he didn't want to let down the crowd.

It was awesome. Probably my fondest memory of Arco in the past few years. Ranks right next to Chris Webber's first game back.

I know it was the Playoff's, but to hear the place go that nuts for the number 12 guy off the bench. That was something special.

I consider it my favorite because I enjoyed the depth of feelings and emotions that ran through my entire being. Win or lose it remains the strongest I've ever felt while watching a sporting event (a close second was Kirk Gibson's World Series home run, also not a good thing for my team). I "knew" what it meant as soon as it happened. Even though my original assumptions were actually wrong, the effects were just as bad, in fact even worse, than I had imagined. As I remember what it was like, sitting on the couch by myself, staring at the television in despair, I can only think about how cool it is that I can get so affected by something that doesn't matter in any sort of real way. That was the best moment I've ever witnessed as a sports fan.


Sorry this isn't as feel good of a response as you were probably looking for, but it was the best moment in my mind.

You didn't even mention the moment. Webber's in and out 3 at the end of regulation in game 7 against Minne was like that for me. So stinking close. WHen he shook off Garnett, it looked in.

I figured it was obvious, but I realize that a large part of it wasn't common to all Kings fans. When Webber went down against Dallas my immediate thoughts were - Achilles... Championship hopes this year over... We'll have to wait one more year. Little did I know that it's going to be a lot more than a year. The in-and-out 3 was tough, but didn't dash championship expectations like I had in 2003. The game 7 in 2002 was tough, but it wasn't a single instant, the last minute or two of overtime let the feeling of dread slowly sink in instead of hitting all at once. Horry's three also didn't dash championship hopes completely, although it was close. Game 7 against Dallas was over early. The heartbreaks against Utah in 1998 also didn't have the weight of expectations on them. My initial reaction to Webber on the ground was immediate and complete, and the expectations at the time were greater than I've ever had as a Kings fan.

I've repeatedly identified that moment as the absolute franchise-turning moment for us, the moment we started going backward, the fanbase sytarted being poisoned, the Maloofs began to close up the wallets (having gone for broke that year only to discover that a bench does not matter if your star gets hurt).

That said, I don't think I could ever call it the "best" playoff moment. Sheesh!

i have that game on tape and i should probably watch it again, but i think the reason jabari was at the line was because of anthony peeler's elbow to kevin garnett's face. wow. i still laugh out loud whenever i see it. of course, A.P was ejected and suspended and that couldve been the reason we lost game 7, but wow. who in their right mind would want to start something with kevin garnett

ooh, and seeing the look on flip saunders' face!!!! hahaha. and the smiles on everyone's face on the kings bench. it was great.

not sure if that's my favorite, but it was def up there.

brad's 3 to tie up that crazy portland game last year always stands out in my mind. down 10 with 50 to go, they tie it up. i loved that. also that crazy rally in game 3 last year vs the woofs, peja for 3!!!! they have been showing that highlight on the " 40 games 40 nights" promo on TNT
